Guys, I have one assumption here, one of the factors that may be holding back Lando from leaving for the Red Bull after his contract is the RBPT-Ford engines. I don't think they can get into engines like Mercedes can. Zak indirectly confirmed that he was satisfied with Mercedes, their technology, capabilities, power, ability to build engines. Reliability and other factors. They are on good terms, so why don't they continue to cooperate? I think Zak also discussed this point with Lando, so for the future I see McLaren among the leaders.
I agree, I think McLaren would be better to stick with a known good PU supplier. I think from a driver PoV this will reduce uncertainty.

Track temps. were somewhere between 30-34° in FP2...with clear skies and air temps of around 30-34° the track temps have been as high as 65° in Budapest. The race pace was quite good in FP2, the front left died quite early but it seemed manageable over a stint, I was surprised by the tyre wear... lets see how that translates in warmer conditions.

Yep that new construction front Pirelli may just be hiding one of McLaren’s two weaknesses. We’ll have to wait till Sunday for that one though.

The car seems to be competitive even today with hotter conditions and on a 3rd different circuit. considering that Mclaren are keeping their engine for qualifying.

He'll be in the mix for sure. Slightly worried that the softs will overheat when it comes to that final Q3 lap though, but the car is certainly showing continued signs of progress. If it's working at different circuit types it's going to be an exciting 2nd half of the season.

Thought the about the soft/ mediums.
It’s crossed my mind that the Q2 times on medium might be faster than the softs in Q3

Need to see how the rubbering in affects the ability of softs to last a lap, assuming no overnight rain.
