How would this work? Give Renault more Time to introduce another engine spec?
It is so typical of Renault if this is true, all talk and no action no delivery of substance despite years of bullish talk.

The other manufacturers won’t be too easy to convince about equalisation.
Only one more year after next year with this PU spec. Not sure if it is worth it.

Renault have never hidden the fact that they've been trying to do more with less money. The reality is that the odds are against them succeeding at that. Their upgrades might be better once out of every five upgrades but your always trying to catch-up from the other four upgrades.

There is a CAP for the new PU regs though....there is hope for them.

So the 100 race plan (~50 races remaining) is likely to fail? :(

It seems like the short term target for 4th place in the 2023 WCC will be difficult to meet unless Alpine produce a McLaren-like upgrade. Sixth place Alpine have lost another 28 points to fifth place McLaren at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Alpine will also need to overhaul Ferrari or Aston Martin to meet their target.

Will the new floor set to debut at the Belgium Grand Prix propel Alpine-Renault to the podium?

In addition to the new floor, I think it could be useful to pay a visit to the Sanctuary of Lourdes... a supernatural help could free them from what seems like a diabolical curse. My goodness, what a losing streak...

....
Well....all signs say yes...
- It is a often underestimated sign in high tech if the management makes ambitious 5 year or whatever plans based on a certain part of their company, sales, R&D, production, etc... In F1 this is purely R&D of course. And at the same time you already see that this R&D is effectively doing nothing, no output that matters. In this case you can say from the beginning, that the 5 year plan is nonsense, they need 5 years to get the R&D back into operation, not to excellence.
- The second bad sign is bad decision making and bad time management. They failed to listen to Alonso, they failed to sign him, they failed to secure Piastri...most probably the same happens in the background in the tech departement.
- They failed to get Ocon and Gasly not to crash all the time. Already last year it was obvious that Ocon is not driving for the team but only for himself and is not concentrated. Completely different game at McLaren for example...I wonder if Piastri was even pushed away by the driver management he saw.
Don`t russel the hamster!

Well it won't fail cause it was Rossi's plan and he is no longer there. :)

Think, because of CAP on PUs, they'll have a better chance post 2025.

Alpine denounces a gap of about 30 horsepower from the other engine manufacturers (Honda, Mercedes and Ferrari), so if the FIA confirms this difference with the analysis of its data, which has been growing despite the freezing of power units, then F1 Commission could authorize an increase in power (5 kW equivalent to 8 HP). Red Bull Powertrains has already given its nod…

Somehow it's always Renault who falls behind and needs equalization after the freeze.

Also Pat Fry is leaving Alpine for Williams, let's see who their new technical chief will be.

I just read that many more have been sacked. 15 people. Otmar is gone. Replaced by Famin as interim.

For the time being, Alpine is not allowed to retrofit its engines to make up for the horsepower deficit
to catch up.

NO MORE PETROL FOR RENAULT
Alpine had submitted the application on behalf of Renault, its engine
to be allowed to retrofit. The French stated that 30 hp
lag behind because the competition in solving
Reliability issues performance throughout the 2022 season
would have found.
The FIA estimates the deficit based on their torque measurements
reportedly down to just 15 kilowatts (22 hp)
. Now Renault feels
slowed down by the development stop, which was only decided in 2021 to
To help Red Bull out of its plight following Honda's withdrawal.
The teams refused to allow Renault to compensate for the
increase fuel flow rate. The question of whether for
Motor faction in Viry-Chatillon again a development window
rises, was sent to the Formula 1 Propulsion Commission
handed back. So problem deferred.

I’m no fan of Otmar, but then I don’t know him, or what his up to, but I think Alpine would be crazy to oust him (or make staffing decisions for him) unless they have someone lined up for the role

Success in F1 takes time & (lots of) stability

Yep, I agree Otmar had to go...why not add Permane. Fry hurts though....

What's funny is Otmar saying he was safe last weekend.

Because nothing will help steer this rudderless ship of a team better than firing most of the management with no direct replacement. Wouldn’t surprise me if the new TP, SD, and maybe even CTO are all French, because spending as little money as possible while waving the tricolore at every opportunity seems to be the strategy for the foreseeable future.

*The French bit is more of a gut feeling and not necessarily a mark for/against these persons’ (whoever they may be) competence btw.
