Lando is out now. Hopefully fixed as best they can!

Nah. Damage must be extensive floor wise

The car is mighty. Piastri doing a good job. Norris as well (at the end).

Good news - start of Q3 is delayed. Maybe the team can fix the damage if it was not done already.

EDIT: The team in the app told Lando to hurry up back to pits so they have more time to fix the car. So he did P3 with damage.

I think McLaren catching Ferrari is likely. The car is faster in all conditions and it seems at most track types. Only Singapore and maybe Monza could be problems compared to Ferrari.

McLaren are also operationally better (by far) and morale is exceptionally high. The two drivers are also clearly gelling with the car and are both performing well. Seems likely they catch Ferrari/amr imo
Do we want them to? Or would it be wiser to take 5th and all the CFD and Wind Tunnel time that comes with it?
I do not think that matters at all. It is about using your CFD and wind tunnel right, not how much time you have. RedBull has the lowest time and one of the oldest tunnels...but the smart people to use it right.
In the end McLaren is still not 100% financially healthy, I think they have still the highest loss in F1. Money is still king as long as you can shift engineers between projects.
Cfd and Wind tunnel time don't matter? At all??

Great effort from Lando to get the damaged car through! Outstanding lap from Oscar too. On the app it says they're gonna have another go at fixing the floor a bit more in the break now.

If anyone needs any lap to understand Piastris talent and confidence, that lap in Q2 was it.

Not to that extent

Far better to end the season with a great car and a good result and carry the momentum into ‘24, than have a few extra runs

Hard to say. Piastri's suddenly looking spectacular now that Lando's car had damage. The gap would probably have been bigger between fastest McLaren and the rest if Lando had a working floor :)

Let's not diminish that lap mate, I'm a lando fan and that was clearly a pretty stellar lap.

Great from Oscar!!!

Lando's damage seems significant unfortunately, from the onboards something is definitely wrong at the rear, you can hear it rattling lmao... to be honest I don't know how he is in Q3...

Couldn't that just be bottoming out?

No it's not the bottoming sound... there is definitely some lose carbon piece making a rattling noise after he went off.. I couldn't hear it in q2 maybe they snapped it off, don't know

Lando still has damage - that is for sure. He is slower in all sectors compared to Piastri. But hopefully this delay gave them enough time to fix whatever needs fixing. Doesn't look like they were replacing the floor - I have no idea how much time that takes.

But let's go, Piastri can take pole with his pace at this moment. That works as well!

Ah, they have done some fixing of the floor in between sessions, hopefully it's sorted (at least mostly) now.
