Well done Charles :D :D :D He has worked with engineers and is excellent in all conditions again.

P1 start for the race on sunday. Something happens to Max and it could well be good :D

A P1 start is a P1 start but 8 tenths behind. Yikes. Hoping for a nice race pace demonstration tomorrow.

The car is better here, the long straights plays to the car strength.

With that said it's a "pole" that already leaves a sour taste, very small chance that it will be converted into a win.

Also congrats to Charles that was nowhere in Spain and Canada. He has made a massive improvement even with this car that he clearly hates.

Goal is to try and beat Lewis.

Starting in front of Lewis and his rocket is key. Track position against the Merc is very important

The gap would have been a bit smaller if they went out at the perfect moment, but that is the situation at the moment. RB is in another league, and the SF 23 is not a good car.

Has anyone noticed that Ferrari have an automated "checkered flag" announcement that plays through the driver radio? I heard it at the end of Q2 and Q3 after the driver crossed the line.

It speaks to an attempt to reduce the workload on the race engineer.

This is not the true difference, though. Leclerc was the second driver after Stroll to lap on a massively improving track while Verstappen was one of the lasts.
Besides that, such changing conditions are always tricky and when you have a driver knowing and loving his car like a happily married couple each other - which Max and the RB19 are - this combo will most likely always have the better of the rest the trickier the conditions are. It’s hard to judge car performance solely by looking at the time sheet.

Max wasn't a happy couple in that quali. He was struggling a lot with the RB especially in low speed, even in final lap.

But that's beside the point: there were more than 2 tenths in going 2nd on track Vs going last like max. Leclerc said on radio it was a bit early to do the lap, but thankfully his effort was enough for P2. You are right that due to this there was a lot of time given away

Having a buffer of Perez between himself and Hamilton will be useful. Gotta nail the start

It looks like McLaren have taken some inspiration from Red Bull floor, especially the unique venturi tunnel geometry. McLaren also has kickline is very far forward. It seems to have payed off for them.

I would love to see Ferrari trial a version of this floor philosophy, this season. See how much performance is left on the table. Iirc, next major upgrade package is scheduled for Qatar/Japan. The nature of those circuit require good floor performance. It would make sense to include a new floor for those weekends.

With that low downforce setup they've got the car should chew up the Pirellis with ease

Leclerc made some comments about how he changed his driving style a bit to do better in these types of tricky conditions, a past weakness of his. I thought Sainz would have him covered here, but he looked strong throughout.

Only with this car.
