Where are the moderators? I come to see this thread to be informed in detail about pace differences, which car/driver stood out etc. But what do I find? Pages filled with disgust on VER by apparently Merc/HAM fans.
.
This forum is a lost cause.

Looking forward to the rest of the racing.

And this is only the beginning, this was only the qualifying. Always the same people who spoil/ruin the race thread.

I feel like we don't get to see enough of the Hamilton-Leclerc rivalry. I'm looking forward to this weekend.

Max was leaving so much margin in S2 until his last Q3 run. It's crazy

Everyone else gained 0.5-1s on their second Q3 run whilst he gained about 2s . But really because he was nowhere near the limit in his first run in Q3. That's why the ridiculous pace seemed to come out of nowhere

These aren't gains from just the circuit ramping up

He said in press conference he was made tentative in T8/T9 because he had a moment there in Q2

The only one close was Piastri in S2 by 2 tenths. The McLarens along with Verstappen had more downforce rear wings but McLaren lost time in the straights.

No idea how accurate these are, but from this animation one would say the main S2 difference is made in Pouhon ..

Anyone noticed the appearance of rooster tail in straight line at certain speed, would say around 200km/h. What happens there, more mass flow, or diffuser working harder and harder with increasing speed, probably both. Quite clearly visible when the aerodinamics kicks off.

looks like the weather forecast for today has improved a bit. Quali could be dry even. The sprint race probably not.

Looking at various onboards it seems latest merc update not so subtly re-introduced porpoising. Most cars bounce to some extent trough some corners, merc however carries that bouncing all the way down the back straight.
This low wing config Hamilton is running will be fun to watch, he really does have like half a second on RBs on straights so I think he can attack or defend in some capacity, unlike last year when Russell couldn't do anything. That said Verstappen has this unreal T1 entry speed that'll probably help him stay close enough for this not to matter too much in the end. Perez and ferraris are a different story. If perez botches the start, which is very possible, he'll have a lot of trouble getting past the mercedes.

Will be really interesting to see if Lewis's tyres can keep up with the low downforce.

Saw this too. Had to go through all push laps and both the mercs were porpoising through Blanchimont and Kemmel straight.
The others bounced at the bumps and settled after. In the mercs though it continued untill braking.
