Red Bull's Carbon Fiber

Post

What kind of material is Red Bull using on their car? I'm referring to the bare floor material that has the checkerboard weave to it. I've never seen this style before.

By the looks of it, it's actually painted that way.

Hmmm possible, I assumed it was some kind of special weave.

That's a cool shot BTW

If it were real it would be a 12k flat weave

its used in aviation fairly often

It is used by a few teams on the engine cover as well (check brawn car blog).

The bigger weave usually equals a lower price than say one with a very fine weave. From what I have heard it has a good drapeability meaning it is easy to form over the mould. (however not a laminator so I couldn't vouch for this)

Just a different weave pattern. Nothin' special.
