Seems like the performance is so bad that they will bin the weekend off?
Would be foolish in a wet weekend. And I don't understand why they insist on running the lower DF wing.
Car has too much understeer with high downforce rear wing.

They won't take penalties for these engine changes. 4th engine is penalty free as of regulations change approved earlier this year.

Even if they take for instance another ES that Charles has already breached the limit on?

He would be penalized for taking another ES. Only the ICE, Turbo, MGU-H, and MGU-K are allowed 4 elements now.

Usually when taking a new power unit, it doesn't necessarily mean a new ES. Under the old rules it was 2 ES per season, but 3 of the ICE/Turbo/H/K.

the sf-23 makes the drivers appear like rookies. I'm worried about leclerc's gearbox in that one

Car pushed wide there, very unfortunate.

Gearbox likely shot, which will negate the work Leclerc did to drag that thing into Q3. Disappointing.

At that stage the prudent approach would've been to take a top 5-6 in qualifying and be happy. This car was never going to be on pole. Take the gains when you can.

Wow the understeer from the onboard was comical, the wheel was pinned for a solid 3 seconds and it just kept drifting away from the apex

Unfortunate for Leclerc. Solid job by Sainz.

Car looked like a handful in Q3 on both onboards.

Haven't heard from the usual suspects excoriating a driver for a mistake or is it only for one of them?

Yeah the onboard was ridiculous. No downforce on the fronts.

It doesn't mean he will take a penalty. He took a new 4th gearbox this weekend but he still has others in the pool that he can revert to.

Might be worth taking one here however. Should be the worst track of the year for the sf23

From the onboard the car doesn't seem to have taken a big hit to the rear:

I'm finding it difficult to pinpoint their worst track. It could easily be Austin, Suzuka, or Qatar.

This could change if there are upgrades that impact the issues.
