In comparison the Mclaren element I don't think this looks that big. But angles can deceive and I'll probably be just needing a new eye test lol

Interesting to note the use of the Mclaren (ish) cutout though..

Here in this comparison from the side, I think the McLaren’s modified wing will have a large angle of attack and trimming alone will not be enough to reduce drag, but I could be wrong. It is better to wait until tomorrow and see the effectiveness.

I'll go look for last year's photos of the rear wing, I don't remember what angle of attack they had in Monza.

I've just posted Photos of the Merc this year Vs Last at Monza.... Teams really aren't bringing Low DF wings, look at the difference! Compared to that the Ferrari is certainly bigger. This picture really adds context t what the teams are doing which seems to have a trend of either med DF wings or some Low DF wings that don't touch some of what we saw last year. Our Med wing doesn't look huge compared to other wings, and in many cases it is comparable. I don't think anyone saw this coming.

mwillems, I agree, some have larger wings.

Here are some photos from last year from Monza. As I see it, McLaren and Ferrari are using variants with last year's rear wings here (weird, it feels like I wrote a similar proposal earlier this year for the rear wing of McLaren and Ferrari). Here you can also see the geometry of the front wing and the beam wing. Curious to see what kind of beam wing will be used this year. And yet, according to these photographs, it seems to be confirmed that the top flap of the Ferrari is larger in area than that of the McLaren. I suppose that the effect of DRS in red cars will be higher.

Yeah it does look like last years wing. Let's hope it is capable with this car.

Good news. So in September we should see the latest updates regarding aerodynamics, in particular the floor and side pontoons.

I will now assume that next year's chassis will be a big evolution of this year's chassis, but many elements will be refined and redesigned, including the suspension arm geometry and other elements.

The AoA is definately less on the Ferrari in comparison to the Mclaren wing and so the element isn't so draggy. Plus the cutout to aid the shedding of DF and drag.

But overall we look comparable to others, proof is to be found tomorrow, but I am not too worried right now.

Luckily, we didn't have to wait long.

Im not convinced this will be a terrible race, I just think it has potential to be worse than some of the recent races, but still better than Pre Austria. I wouldn't take the engine here, but we can see after FP1 or FP2. If we look slow then it might not be a terrible idea.
Williams will be really fast. Personally I think Mclaren are fighting for P9 at best.
I’ll let you know how they fare Sunday night😉😂

Thanks. Now I’ve leant Italian I realise the article is a regurgitation of what I posted the other day.

What I find interesting is and I’ve read Stella being quoted his a few times is they see no benefit to bring any new parts to the MCL60 that were developed for the 2024 machine yet Aston Martin say the opposite and that they will keep developing the ‘23 car with upgrades which have been developed for the ‘24 car?

I can only guess that there is enough difference that the 24 car can't plug parts into this years car.

Doesn't have to be significant, just enough that they aren't directly compatible. Much like most of last years parts couldn't be taken, as they'd need to work with the package.

There's no absolutes though, I'm sure that if they saw something that would offer a big update for little effort then why not.

I suppose they don't want to show their hand either if they think they are being original.

Well, those developments that are now at the development stage will later be installed in the car in September. As I understand it, this is the last package. And after that, the team will fully focus on the 2024 car. This is good.
