Hey i just realised something.. check this out.

The William FW22, it looks similar to the F1.09

There must be something wrong with the BMW F1.09.

It had a high downforce rear wing in Silverstone, a track which is usually mid-low downforce.

Notice the tiny center wing.

Theyve ran that wing on all tracks since it was introduced. I doubt bmw has a high and low df wing since they are all the same angle and shape.

I'm not disputing the F1.09 has its problems, but Silverstone along with most tracks is in fact high downforce. The only tracks which require low Df are Monza and Spa.

scarbs is right, but it is pretty complicated.

The car need high downforce for the fast corners, wich silverstone got alot of, but you also need alot topspeed, becuase of that they run lowr downforce rear wings, but i believe they run high downforce front wings

Yup.

Is it me or do the BMW designers stick to what their robototron tells them to do

Look at it, all boxy and horrible, compared to the Macca solution;

BMW almost always looks boxy when the dimensions are restricted (rearwing, diffuser, frontwing - sidepods and nose appendages etc. are often smooth), McLaren always look smooth. So I guess it doesn't really matter that much (McLaren is better most of the time but I doub't it's only due to smoothness or not).




Good thing with the new frontwing, finally an update that wasn't planned but something they tested and that apparently worked.

Looks like it might have a slight impact on the driver's viewpoint? Presumably they took it into consideration.

It just looks so boxy and.. well.. horrid
