You all can see each other’s point in the discussion. Please stop pretending that you don’t, hanging on to specific words to make the other poster look wrong, and arguing for the sake if it. Locked for cool down, for everyone to read the notice board, and yes, hammers are ready if this continues.

Hamilton extended his contract at Mercedes a few days ago. He does see just work to do for his team: "There's lots of learning from today, and we will have a bit of work tonight to try and improve for Saturday - as we always manage to do. I know that the team will do great work overnight to improve the set-up and car balance so that we can be quicker tomorrow."
"It's been a messy day," Shovlin said after the first two free practice sessions at Monza. "Partly with red flags, but also because we don't have the car in a good place at the moment. That means we have a bit of work to do overnight to get the setup in the right place for the rest of the weekend," he continues.

Russell talks about his experience in the two free practice sessions: "The car was feeling reasonably good, but we have some improvements to make on the soft tyre. The high fuel pace was looking pretty strong, so the focus tomorrow will be on finding more speed for qualifying."

Hopefully they can find the right combo and unlock the car for FP3 and on..

Lewis wanted changes in FP2 and they told him no, sorry, not enough time.

Did Mick get a contract extension for working the simulator?!?

Hamilton actually said that FP1 was feeling really good. So they did roll off the truck well from the simulation tools. Then he says they made the car worse for FP2. Why that is (and it's becoming a pattern), we can't be sure.

Antonelli will race in F2 next year. Seems unnecessarily rushed and risky given he hasn't set world alight in FRECA like he did in F4.

Something like this can be career damaging if it is too early, but hopefully it's the right move - fingers crossed

Hypothetically speaking, if he were to win the F2 championship next year it would create a situation where he can’t race anywhere serious in 2024 without an F1 seat available.

Top two teams, just too fast.

Good effort from George to lead the rest of the pack. Look at the sectors, lewis just couldnt get the final sector hooked. Must be a trust issue through the chicane and or the final turn

Looked like night and day difference between George and Lewis through Ascari all through. Very nervous for Lewis.

What's troubling for Lewis tomorrow is he will likely need to use the medium and hard tires tomorrow, not that it looked any better on the softs.

Maybe the balance will be better on high fuel. No idea really. I think they are decent on the straights now, but at the expense of the corners a bigger tradeoff than Ferrari for example.

I think it will settle down as usual on high fuel, but progress will be almost impossible with that Williams ahead, at least in the first stint. Overcut and create a tyre offset will be the only way to move forward.

Wild take here but I think he's going to get overtake the Williams within the first few laps. Didn't Max have problems during qualifying in Budapest because he set-up for the race? Could be the same for Lewis.

A very disappointing qualifying from Hamilton today. I have noticed, near enough every weekend where he starts off strongly his performance gets worse & worse as the sessions progress, with George it tends to be the opposite. It looks like now George is getting to grips with the revised car and has had the measure on Hamilton for the last two races.

I wouldnt say the last two. Zandvort Hamiltonnwas quicker but just didnt get the preparation right with the team.
At monza i would say he had gone backwards.
But there is no trend with him getting worse and Russel finding his way. I dont think Russel fell off. Most of his erros have been with gambling or overdriving.
Here at Monza, Hamilton seems to be the one overdriving or looking for some silvee bullet to front row pace and it's just not hapenning.
For Sure!!

Preparation is part of the the game, Lewis has underperformed recently after looking like he had the measure of Russell for several races. George now looks much happier in the car, the revised car definitely wasn't to his liking, he clearly dipped in performance pace wise.
