For sure but Ferrari made overtaking a lot more difficult with high top speed. More risky for VER to damage something in the attempts to pass, but he managed it well.
PER by the way was doing good today, hopefully he has his mojo back.
It shouldn't be surprising for Perez to be quick at Monza. It has a lot of similarities to other tracks where he runs well (Baku, COTA) . I think he can be quick at Monza and still continue to struggle at more regular circuits unfortunately. Still Singapore will probably be good for him (if dry) so momentum may be on the up for him
Opinions on RB's choice of energy deployment? Clearly they decided going full blast down to parabolica was more beneficial than deploying on the back straight before ascari, which was in contrast to every other car. They were harvesting already after like 100-200m and just relied on DRS to keep them somewhat in range.
Certainly made overtaking ferraris possible, otherwise it would be very very difficult to make a move.
Probably the best choice with the rear wing they had available. The very loaded main plane meant the parabolica exit was their best performance on the field by a significant margin

To make sure they'd keep DRS?
Nah, keeping drs wasn't a problem as they were usually never that far back. It allowed them to close up from ~0.6s down to ~0.4s before parabolica and as we've seen this enables them to be at around ~0.25 exiting parabolica and eventually make a move. Without this gain it'd be harder still to overtake, if not nearly impossible.
Ah, but it was very obvious and the reason Max couldn’t stick with him, and this way couldn’t attack on the straight. Maybe this was a coincedence but harvesting there was very smart.

It goes back and forth with these things. Maybe it gave them more to deploy on main straight, but it still allowed RB to close up to them a lot before that. So it's a balance to be struck, I think in this case RB outplayed ferrari.
When Max got really close to Sainz before entering parabolica Sainz did a little lift and that way Max couldn’t follow close. Happen 2/3 times.
The Ferrari really was just a missile on the straights. You needed to be within 2 tenths in the parabolica (so basically right in the wheel tracks) to be able to pass but that corner is just too high speed to follow that closely without losing the rear of the car.
The last time we saw a car this ballistic in Monza was ‘19.

It did take a lock up by Sainz. Max was a few times very close before parabolica, I thought, now he has him, but then, due to the harvesting, it was sort of like driving into the back of him, having to slightly keep a gap and then Max could not get close again on the straight, close enough to attack I mean. In F2 Martins had a stuck open DRS and going into the parabolica was the only place it really hurt him. So with the tires still good (reasonably) lap 15 was actually early. Checo also needed a lot of time to get enough degradation on the Ferrari to be able to do it, and it was still a brave attempt.
I think it was kind of the reason why RB set the car up the way they did… knowing they have better tyre life than the Ferrari’s. It was always a waiting game today with RB. They knew where they needed to be strong in order to get the distances they needed and just needed to wait it out keeping pressure on the Ferrari drivers to over cook their tyres.
Very wise move this weekend from them I think…. Knowing who they are against, where they are at and knowing their own car strengths.
Likewise with Lewis comments I think what people seem to forget is the way Max handled all the different and changing wheater circumstances to get to the ten victories. Yes he has a superior car and yes his teammate is mweh at too many occasions, but one cant deny the brilliance of Max when it comes to the changing circumstances.
