Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes MP4-24

But on the rear you see all the color on the right side.
So what is the reason for this?
yeah...like...0.8 secs isn't much is it?
Could this be the difference the new diffusor makes?
I would say it is a bit to much. There must be a lot of other effects in this time difference but we should keep a look at this during the race.

During quali I saw a comparison between Hamilton and Kovalainen. It was visible
that Hamiltons car was several car lengths faster just through last chicane.
it's probably a combination of the better package hamilton has and talent

paddy lowe said overall the new car seems to be 0.8 secs quicker

Ok, two questions here:
1. The diffuser definitely looks asymmetrical. How come?
2. The blue paint coming from the front of the car came out of the diffuser as expected, but there is virtually no paint marks on the top diffuser's walls. Is this because the airflow there is more straight, or is it because there is not much flow through the top part? Or am I not seeing it right?[/quote]

I am not sure why they do that, but i guess its always good to test the worst side, since and improvement will also improve the best side of the car. May the right front side is the kers side so flowvis is more important here, and the left side of the diffuser is where you have that starter hole to complicate things. I could be wrong.

I would like to have seen how they did the paint test. I imagine that without a controlled spray pattern and distribution the results can be deceiving.

BTW, I imagine there were two tests, at least. One for the front of the car, and one for the diffuser. Testing on two different sides kinds of isolates the results.

Hole for the starter is not in the center of the gearbox. Check the Force Indias, same thing going on.

Mclaren have always used asymmetrical parts/ side pods. Notice how the diffuser is kinda wider on the right side, probably because the circuit is clockwise?

Regardless which team I favor, I'm absolutely dumbfounded that somehow the MP4-24 has generated 70+ pages of threads...The car doesn't seem worthy of that! :D I can't offer a decent explanation. Perhaps it's because they were good last year and they're shite this year. But, then I would say Brawn/Honda were shite the past two years, and now they're brilliant, so they would garner just as many posts as McLaren (only reversing their situations). But, they (Brawn) have 20 pages fewer posts! Unbelievable! It just seems like the definition of "counter-intuitive" to me...Anyway, well done for their recent progress....
Best regards. I guess this explains why I'm not at my post!

I think it's due to the starter hole, which is on the right this year for some reason.

Awful race for lewis, caused by the calamity that is Webber! I can't wait to see if the McLaren can stay competitive though.
