2025 is the earliest Merc expect to fight for a Championship.
Yeah, I hope the 2024 season is like 2019 and 2025 a proper championship battle. I wonder how the field will shake up if those reg change rumors for 2025 actually become a reality.

There are now rumors of a regulations shakeup for 2025:

The FIA can't stop shooting themselves in the foot. This was caused by the changes to the floor for 2023.

Reading what they intend to change, hard to see how it would upset the competitive order and help Mercedes or Ferrari. Both seem to be exploiting loopholes to create front wing outwash to a greater degree than Red Bull.

Any rule change to reduce the fins and flaps will hurt Mercedes more. It is what they have relied on to make downforce.

As for the W15... Only a silver bullet can have them within two tenths of a car that is basically 1 second a lap today.

I am certain that it'll take both a Merc silver bullet level upgrade and a RB nerf/restriction for it to be competitive for P1.

Evidence against there being a RB secret sauce is that with all the movement of staff and engineers around teams the secret isn't out.

I do believe that it is a combination of aero efficiency, engine power, fancy suspension and Max's driving that make that Red Bull so fast. I realize this sounds like an "oh really?!" kind of statement but I just don't see it being any other way.

This topic has been discussed quite a bit here recently. Thought this was relevant as it quantifies the performance

Merc came 2nd in DHL fastest pitstop championship in 2021, 3rd (a few points off 2nd) in 2020, . 8th in 2022, now 7th (so far)

Seems the new tyres have fried Merc's pitstops

That's a low hanging fruit they need to sort out. Pitstops. It's like Wolff tells the team to not bother about pitstops for now, focus on the car. But they need to sort it out if they end up running at the front in the future.
For Sure!!

Are there any articles released recently where Mercedes have discussed the new technical directive? I haven't been able to find anything. It seems like all of the teams have been asked at one point or another but I can't find Merc's comments.

A few pictures from pitstop practice courtesy of Albert Fabrega. Haven't found any details yet of new parts say in response to the TD on wings, but we should get that from the F1 docs bot on twitter soon

Reinforcement of existing components won't show in update documents. That's not to say I'm suggesting anything one way or the other currently. I have my musings, but mostly unsubstantiated.

My opinion is that they've had to strengthen the beamwing connections to the rear wing endplates

Why would they? Dont think i ever saw them with any suspicious moving or flexing. Haven't seen them with anything fishy apart from whst all teams do..the upper wing element slides down at high speed if i remember.
For Sure!!
