The Aston Martin lagged behind in the dry lap simulations, but in FP2 it showed an interesting race pace with the good characteristic of preserving the rear tyres even better than its rivals. The problem for the AMR23, however, seems to be the usual one from the start of the season: finding a functional balance to fire up the tyres for the dry lap in qualifying, without ending up with excessive consumption in the race. Normally the Silverstone car prefers, and is among the best, to manage the tyres in the race, but this can be a limitation in Qualifying"

I'm very hesitant to jump to conclusions. Especially on Friday. There is tons of data collected on Friday. The best setups come out of that data. Sometimes, there is little change, on average one team finds a chunk of time on Friday night/Saturday morning.
