Car went out of the window on the second lap I guess? Or driver errors

Decreasing gains on the rubber and the guys didn't nail the laps.

Considering both drivers had bad sector 2 and 3's and they were close to each other physically on the track I presume that it was getting very gusty.

I think what really saved them is having the extra set of new softs for Q3 allowing them to set a banker lap.

It was S2 where they must have had a snap of sorts. Beginning of S2 was improving and then right in the middle a “yellow” bar. So a nasty snap with a gust perhaps as NOR and PIA both did a .6 rather than the .3 .4 sectors they had done on previous lap. 1.29.2 would have been possible imho

I just checked - Piastri would keep 2nd by 2 thousands of a second from Leclerc.
Norris would be P4 behind Leclerc.

It has to be said, amazing job by the team. Finally the team is strong enough to easily advance into Q3. It's great to watch relaxed.

What do you mean? Would have? I'm confused how you were able to work those times out.

Are you basing it off of Q2 times? If so then that's not accurate because it doesn't take into account track evolution and drivers realising where they can make up a bit of time.

Great job by the team! But as a Lando fan, I have to say that was slightly disappointing from him. Had a great Friday and start to qualifying but just didn't put it all together on those final runs like he should and usually does. Needs to snuff out these little slips as the car keeps getting better as it matters more and more.

Well, hello back to reality. Max remains out of reach, but I'm happy with 2nd and 3rd place, albeit 5-6 tenths more behind than I expected to see. We have good starting positions, hopefully we can collect a lot of points. Let's see what the race pace will be like.

Piastris last lap was 1.29.540, almost the same as his first and would have stayed P2 if you ignore Lando's first fast lap.

Lando's second lap was 1.29.622

So if they did used softs and did the same second laps then they'd be 2nd and 4th.

I'm not conviced they had a gust of wind but track conditions might have affected it, but others (VER, HAM, RUS) improved so... it's seems a selective reason.
