If I were Mercedes I would start George on softs and tell him to be ultra aggressive on the first few laps.

If he gets in front it would open up some potential options for a win when it’s 2 vs 1.
The pace won't be close enough to do that. On pure pace RB was around 5-6 tenths quicker on 1 lap in quali - Russell only driver out of max/lewis/himself to get a final lap in. And RB gap is usually larger in the race to Merc than in quali. As such RB can just do whatever strategy and win. Russell puts softs on to hold up Max? Max can just undercut him extremely early, take an extra stop and still win.. Especially so because both McLarens are now starting P6/P10 and Checo is P13

Top speeds of the fastest driver from each of the top 5 teams

AMR are running their medium-high RW rather than maximum dwf configuration which explains their advantage here

I expect nothing of it since they were on out laps.

I think Sainz was on an in-lap and Max was on out-lap. So track position didn't matter for Sainz and yet he fought erratically. Weird one

Itll not be far away.

A lot of rivers losing the rear on the final runs
Because there is super little grip. Hard to predict. Surface still very new and very sandy too. That is why the drivers who had to push earlier lost out already. Max could afford to take the risk, and he did that as he already had the lap, others were with their backs against the wall.

Hamilton always find some way to mess his qualifying nowadays..
Lewis, Sergio, Lando, or Carlos. Even Max messed up.

You went for Lewis though 👀
Be honest. Lewis was very unhappy with himself too. He did loose out to George and these two are at it.

Sainz had aborted the hotlap, I think he was on a prep lap? He was fighting so there must have been a reason.

If Sainz was on an in-lap...that deserves a penalty.

he was not. Sainz was preparing for another hot lap.

SAI was on an outlap. Came out together with LEC, when VER passed SAI, SAI was radioed: "all clear from behind, all clear from behind, push next lap".

There's no penalty here, just misrepresentation from RBR folks because Max has to be granted everything.

Anything on Lando driving leisurely while Leclerc was pushing?

I checked it on F1TV, and it resulted in no obstruction at all. Norris moved to the side early enough, despite the team not telling him.
