I wonder if it costs more to have andretti or to have red bull dominate the season (and the associated downturn in viewership/engagement).

Andretti/Caddy will not turn a lap in F1. The Euro Frat boys will never allow it. This is unless Stroll sells him Aston.

Is this real Andretti and not a Mclaren at TMG windtunnel?

Front pull rod
Front anti sqwat
Red Bull style radiator inlet
Side impact structure within in side pod but further back than anyone else
Anti dive suspension in the rear, so a suggestion of what Alpine must be doing this year

Somewhere in a GM Motorsports

Scarbs says that this is the Andretti F1 model in the Toyota wind tunnel. And that it is very close in design to the RBR RB18. So he suggests it is an older spec model and a newer version may be running at the moment.

Because all those things Chase Carey negotiated were actually beneficial for the teams on the whole. It made them much easier to fund and in some cases profitable, that's not a difficult pitch for a decent negotiator. Domenicale on the other hand is being asked to cut their revenue share whilst FOM keeps its share as is. They'll get some compensation for it initially, but it's probably going to be a losing proposition in the long run. And the idea that Andretti's presence will increase revenue is hopeful at best. There will be some hype initially but it will die down, and 2-3 years after they join it will be business as usual, but with 11 teams sharing the pie instead of 10. And those 11 teams will undoubtedly be very demanding when the next concorde agreement is to be negotiated. In the end the revenue of the sport will not be affected by the nationality of one team, but rather the quality of the competition. I'm not convinced Andretti has the resource, know how, or even the ambition to actually become a contender. They'll get in and be content with their billion dollar valuation and annual revenue from F1 and sponsors. Americans will not embrace their mediocrity, and Andretti is anyways mostly unknown to the demographics that F1 is targetting in the US.
I disagree. Chase created all those points of negotiations with the teams.

There was no reason for the top 3 teams (Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull) to agree to a budget cap when they had no issues with their cashflows, or for them to give up on their championship bonuses.

These were well handled by Chase. On the other hand Domenicali has not put forward anything that would be a point of discussion towards signing the next deal. The only thing we have heard is him unloading on any new team proposal and talking about franchise.

Anyway when Cadillac joins, and if they finish last for the next 5 years, the teams would loose about 276 million (4% of revenue with a base of 1.15 bn and 8% yearly teams price money growth). If they finish 6th every year teams would loose 613 million. If they progress steadily from last to 6th over the 5 years, teams loose 421 mn. From all of this the 200 mn dilution fee need to be deducted.
The reason is called profitability. Even if it was sustainable for them to spend all of that money it was wasteful. No extra exposure but a lot of extra cost, the budget cap put an end to that and saved them a lot of money.
I’d give both of you a +1 if it was avail. Extremely enlightening discussion. Thank you both for taking the time to write all of that. Cheers-

I would assume they wanted to get that out first.

Best play from here is to start booking tracks for a new spec series, and take their current r&d car and get rid of the F1 nonsense.

See if a parallel series starts to draw from F1 by just having better cars and racing.

See no reason why they can’t come in. Rumours are F1 would consider a 2028 application.
But the current one refused because it would bring no value.

So what’s different in 2028 to bringing value.

Apparently F1 doesn't like the idea of them having customer engines for 2-3 seasons before Cadillac comes in in 2028. Which is a BS reason in my opinion.

My personal opinion is that F1 wouldn't snub Andretti if they weren't fighting with FIA on who has more control of a sport.

How much of a say in this did the teams have? As a decision, it stinks; and serves only to prop up the value of underachieving teams. The only way to get a franchise is to buyout an existing team, despite the current Concorde Agreement allowing for two further teams to compete, all of the teams signed up…

Go for it!

I am also in favour of Andretti Global starting a breakaway Grand Prix series. =D>

"Bridgestone Presents the Grand Prix World Series Powered by Cadillac"? :D With such iconic venues as Sepang, Magny Cours, Hockenheim, Surfers Paradise or Adelaide etc.

It's funny to see the hoopla around Andretti being rejected by FOM, compared to the relative lack of fuss about Bridgestone being rejected by FOM despite offering to pay more than Pirelli!

Did anyone say 18,000rpm 3.5L V12 engines running on technically carbon-neutral synthetic fuel?

Of course. But as always, Andretti could have purchased Hispania Racing, Manor Racing or Caterham F1 many years ago. Formula One Management and the FIA did admit three new teams in 2010, after all, those teams were around for a while and were available for purchase when they became insolvent due to prize money only being padi to top 10 WCC,

IF it is really about Andretti Global's desire to build and race Grand Prix cars, and not about their desire to access the high commercial profile of Formula One, then Andretti should have no hesitation in starting their own Grand Prix series. There is nothing that says the FIA World Championship should be the only major Grand Prix series. :)

After all, despite the World Driver's Championship being the "benchmark" it is not even technically the same championship as the fabled AIACR European Grand Prix Championship. It just has the same events like the Italian Grand Prix, Monaco Grand Prix etc.
