Its not though.

Take Piastri. new hard, new medium. 40 laps. 19 laps left. He doesnt have a Medium tyre that will do 19 laps. The best he can manage is a 2 or 3 lap old soft. And we seen how that lasted in the race.

Its a 3 stopper, but your on the bones of your A$$ at the end on tyre deg.

Leclerc for example.

1 new medium and hard. 3 used mediums on 16, 8 and 7 laps. So none of those can be used.
No new soft to use and the used softs are 25,10,8,5,4,2 laps old. So he can only use the 2 lap old soft for 19 laps (to the end) without making a extra stop.

This is if the exclude formation lap and the final in lap after the flag.

Sorry I didn't mean "4 stops", I meant "4 sets of tires" which is 3 stops. You are still misunderstanding something.

If Pirelli says tires can only be used for 20 laps, then Mclaren can only use their mediums for 17-18 laps each, because they already have some full speed laps on them. That's why Mclaren would need an extra stop compared to RB.

Max can make it easily on medium-hard-medium because his used tyres are only 3 laps old. The other guys who have 6-7 lap old used mediums will be right on the edge. They'll need 17 laps from their used tyres but will only have 16 laps of allowed use if they are 6 laps old to begin with.

Sorry I didn't mean "4 stops", I meant "4 sets of tires" which is 3 stops. The starting tire, the stop on lap 20, the stop on lap 40, and then Mclaren have mediums tires with 6 and 7 laps on them so they would not be allowed to go to lap 57 if Pirelli restriction goes into place. They would need a 4th set.
I wasn't referring to you, that dude Collins and he was pretty clear in what he said.

irrelevant anyways, as I'm more than sure it will be just a two stopper for most at the top. there won't be any 20 laps max directives from Pirelli I bet.

Could be advantage bottom runners tomorrow.

Look at Haas, Alpha Tauri and Williams all with 2 new hards and mediums (except Mag). Alfa arent in a bad spot either with Bottas and Zhou

A bit of mandated tyre age could seriously spice it up. Im all for it now after watching todays sprint!

I would assume the opposite. Some classical Pirelli tire blowouts (akin Qatar 2021 and many others), especially amongst the front runners, could seriously spice the things up indeed. Not mandated equal strategy for everybody at the top. That could only make a boring race even more boring.

Heres F1Tv tyre lowdown for tomorrow.

Some could be in BIG trouble tomorrow.

Three top runners with a new set of softs are Ham/Perez/Leclerc.

They could do medium, push on the hards and stop for new softs when the car should be at its peak performance level.

Given how effective tyre deltas and the DRS were in the sprint, having the option of a car in quali mode for the last stint might work well, especially if its only for around 10 laps vs 20 for the sprint

Guess it all depends what Pirelli come up with for the tyres.

We only really had 12-13 green flag laps in the sprint. 4 of them came after the last SC at which point GR had already rung Mercedes to let them know his tires were dead. So basically the soft tires were done after only 5-7 green flag laps for most who had them. .
