Those tweets/analysis relied on Max/George getting a poor start on the mediums.

As I said, Both GR and MV got a decent start - therefore that tactic goes out the window immediately.

This wasnt the sprint race where the mediums were a sitting duck against the soft tyre runners. The track was more rubbered in. Maybe Merc/LH thought it would be a repeat of yesterdays start.
Video footage suggests if there hadn't been contact he overtakes them both.
That's speculation from a video though. Its a long way round the outside.

Either way, LH/Merc were hoping for a poor start (again) on the front runners. They didnt. They wanted to re-create the sprint start with LH. The medium runners got away considerably better than yesterday, to the whole tactic goes out the window.

And that's just purely your opinion!

If they actually thought lewis could build a gap while on soft tires after they watched the sprint race yesterday and saw what happened to the soft runners then they are even more inept than i thought.
Considering his compromised tire allocation it was his best bet. Pass try and build any gap you can and hope the grid spreads out so you don't take a big penalty for pitting early, or hope for a safety car thats lets him stretch the tires in the hopes of not having to run the hards.
I willwait for the race debrief when they hopefully explain their thinking. There is no way you can anticipate lewis would build a gap when the car is heavier on fuel than it was in the sprint race and soft runners got decimated in the sprint race. Even lewis during the formation lap said he was going to be eaten up. George when he got on the softs at the end was slow as molasses as I expected. Crappy strategy imho unless i hear a better explanation.

Correct it is my opinion. However it is also your opinion that the video would have suggested Lewis would have been ahead of those.

I know where I would rather stand. Speculation or the actual scenario that played out. One holds weight, the other doesnt.

Well take a look at the post above yours, Juzh agrees with me and that pretty much never happens!

I think juzh was sarcastic there…
The cheapest sort of pride is national pride, every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud adopts, as a last resource, pride in the nation to which he belongs; thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.

That was quite clearly tongue in cheek. 'Wins the race in T2' Of course that is going to happen, isnt it.
If anything, his comment was more a tongue in cheek dig at your speculation that Lewis was in the lead after turn 1.

Looking on it, Lewis was in a pretty tough position to judge how much room to leave. It's similar to gasly hulk and perez.
Drivers wont know how much space 3 cars need.
Russel should not have got his elbows out at the start if he knew lewis was on the faster tyre. The problems initiated there.
Lewis at fault yes, but it was nip and tuck to judge room for 3 and try to stay on a quick line.

The good thing with this is he gets a wake up call for the remaining races.
For Sure!!

reasonable. still i think any number of scenarios could occure even before T1 is finished (without crash) so i found your claim of a double overtake very far fetched. If everything is the same but ham leaves space for russell then he has to take a wider and slower line and verstappen would more likely close off outside line to prevent just a move like that.
