Good idea. But make it 10kg minimum so that the smaller teams that can't afford the best minifridges aren't at a disadvantage

It was hot and very humid. The humidity makes a big difference . Singapore which is typically hot & humid is known as the toughest race on the calendar. The sprint and Friday had low humidity

It was made worse by the 18 lap maximum stint length as this meant all drivers were pushing more than normal, so more like 57 push laps rather than doing management

We're lucky especially in Sargeant's case that nobody passed out in a fast corner. Clearly stroll and Sargeant came close.

Didn't seem like he needed to stop yet were it not enforced. Needless rule.

You misunderstand the issue. The issue isn't thermal degradation. The issue is that the tires are getting damaged on the inside, which will eventually lead to either a blowout or the tire ripping itself apart. It's suspected to be caused by vibrations.

It has nothing to do with pace. The tire can have fine pace, and still get closer and closer to a point where it will eventually rip itself apart.

Stroll and Sergeant (the classical pay drivers) suffered the most it seems. They are competing against professionals.

I’ll concede that George was alongside max a little but equally Lewis was well ahead of George and thus George could’ve backed out. That’s what makes it a racing incident at worse for me. Certainly not totally Lewis’ fault. Oh and George’s claim of only looking ahead is pretty much negated when you see that Lewis would be right in his eyeline ahead of him…

That said, these things are split second decisions that we mortals can armchair manage with hindsight that these guys are making in real time with consequences. Hence, racing incident for me.

While concluding it's a racing incident is certainly fine (the stewards did as well after all), calling out George for this is mental.

The reason was have the concept of "racing incidents", and in particular "lap 1 incidents", to begin with, is because it's impossible for people to look in two places at once. If George is trying to do a move on Max, he's looking ahead - he can't look in his rear view mirrors at the same time when he also have to see what Max is doing.

That's also why we have the rule in the Driving Standards Guidelines, that it is the job of the overtaking car to perform an overtake in a "safe and controlled manner". Lewis is the overtaking car, and since he's behind George initially - he knows what's happening ahead of him when he goes into the overtake.

He just stormed past Russel and cut the line short. Even if George had seen him, i don't think he had a chance to back out of that one. And even if he had, it was still not his fault.
