Yeah that's my thought. In the meantime, it's Arsenal vs Man City time, where my team are likely to get smashed, hopefully the boys can redeem the football result with a good performance in the race!
Arsenal fan?
Me too 😀
Nice, a good Sunday for both of us then! :D

Guys, do you know why the team did their 1st pitstop so early? Was the team concerned about the undercut, or was there any issue with the tires? Could not find any note about it. Think back a bit both drivers lost a lot due to the traffic and the required time to put the tires into the right working window.
When Ver came out from his last pit stop Oscar was only ~4 seconds behind - clearly, more time was lost due to the traffic. I'm not saying we could challenge Ver at all but still curious

Did they start on used tyres? Taking into account the tyre limits in place.

If I remember well Oscar did his 1st pit on lap 12, Norris on lap 13. So they were far from the limit

They started on old tires, drove the maximum allowed laps.

The last two stints, Meds and then Hards were new tyres, the first two were used.

Interesting to note the inferred suggestion that they are still managing their pace

They definitely weren't pushing full steam, I just love that Marko feels the need to let everyone know, in only the way that Marko does... "Listen everyone, we can go faster if we want to". Which still makes it even worse for Checo!

Oscar got a new one for Suzuka. Lando's is prehistoric, they're gonna have to take a penalty soon.

What are people's thoughts heading to Austin?. How do you think the car will perform?. I think sector 1 and 2 we will be quick, sector 3 im not sure?.
Also how much time is there to be gained in s1&2 vs the time gained in s3?. Watching Sainz pole lap from last year the ferrari was fairly average though s1&2, he didnt go purple in those 2 sectors but car looked good in s3 and he went purple and gained most of his time. So very interesting.
The crucial thing is McLaren is much quicker than Ferrari & Merc in high speed corners, and only slightly behind in low-speed corners since the Singapore upgrade. So they might have a slight edge. But Mercedes might be slightly quicker given they're bringing a new floor and already being great on race pace.
My guess is Sector 1 Turns 2-6 we should be very quick. Sector 2 Turns 7,8,9 and 10 we should be very quick also. The rest of sector 2 is mostly straits, which we have improved in our strait line speed, then slow speed turns 11 and 12 which I think Ferrari and merc will be quicker.
I think for sector 3 we will struggle with the begining turns 13-15 this is a very slow speed chain of corners strung together, which I think the ferrari and merc will be strong in. But the bonus in sector 3 for us is turns 16 to 19 are quite fast which again we should be quick. I just dont know where the time gain is in each sector?, weather its in the low speed corners or the high speed?.
