Car was quick but costly 3s lockup in stint 1 and the slow stops resulted in no win.
to be honest it was "just" around 0.8s, not 3s. 42s for S2, previous few were 41.2s.
Thanks for the correction. Might've damaged the tyres and cost unseen laptime though
Hamilton still lost roughly 2-2.5s/lap in those 3 "offset" laps in Stint 1. Had he done one less of those laps, then perhaps we would have had a duel for P1.

Upgrades worked nicely and the best part is they show the true gap between them.
They should be able to optimize it much better in coming races. This was a sprint weekend so they definitely did not get the most out of it.

I know by now whenever Alisson says car upgrade is worth "1 tenth" in reality it's at least double, if not triple that.

Mercedes' sub-optimal, inconsistent, lazy pit-stops have been damaging their results for years now and they've done it again. Unfortunately it's unlikely that an outfit that's stubbornly ignored this issue in the past will move to rectify it even after it cost them a plum victory.

Not much pitlane time lost in all to RB as their stops weren't brilliant either

Yes my guess is 3 tenths. I think Mexico and Brazil could be good

Hamilton had the second stint on whites. It is only normal that that is the stint that is a bit longer. Then you also have the delta at the end. I don’t think the strategy team is as bad as some people make them out to be.

Point is, when chasing a faster car. You have to be superior in the areas that are not related to that pace.

Red Bull can afford to make errors, mercedes cant

Can’t see the point of not pitting 1-2 laps earlier and go on the Hards 1-2 laps longer…

I know some people get hyped by the upgrade bringing performance but I’ll have to remind them last year Mercedes also brought an update here, also finished a close 2nd and also thought they’ve made a fast car at last…

Guess what happened some months later…

Well the good thing is Hamilton this weekend has addressed that their pit stops need improving

Agreed, I think Mexico should be especially good for them, high downforce, high altitude, low speed corners and it should give them more time to refine their setup as it's not a sprint weekend

Well the bright side is that this floor is working by itself. The wings and body didn't change. So imagine if the whole car was optimized together? This war is not over yet. If we can close within 2 tenths of RedBull in 2024 we can win the WCC at least.

In 2022, they were six tenths off pole...and probably only finished 2nd because CL started 12th. This and then, are not alike

Mercedes is the only team capable of catching Red Bull on pure car pace probably. Strategy and pit stops yeah they're bad. But with Allison at the helm, they can do it NextYear.
