Officially. When the FIA "randomly" find 2/4 planks out of compliance it would not surprise me if they check more cars. The rules apply to everyone after all, not just 4/20 cars.

But it doesn't really matter does it. If George was slower than Lewis with both of them running cars too low to the ground they would likely both be slower with legal set-ups.

I think if 50% of the cars checked failed.. That's too high a number and they should check all 20 cars. 50% is not representative of a normal distribution.
You cannot really blame the team. Formula 1 itself is to blame with the sprint weekend. The risk always existed with just 1 practice session for a new part. Look on Aston Martin and the brake issues?
There simply is not enough running to provide enough data for the setup.

What's even worse.. is that if the car was higher.. then it means the W14 is much slower than it performed today, as it was performing with an advantage.

But hey.. in times of adversity I think Lewis tends to focus more and deliver on the next go. This could bode well for a win in Mexico.

Probably true, but who knows Perez could have his own two week no point streak. Certainly would be a better bet than it happening to Hamilton.
