From Joe Saward's green notebook

Hunt for Norris continues
There was vague talk some weeks ago that Red Bull was looking to buy Lando Norris out of his McLaren contract in order for him to race alongside Max Verstappen in 2024. Everyone denied it but there were definitely discussions. I am told that in the end Lando decided against it, perhaps because McLaren’s performances improved.
Go for Piastri, then. I believe he will soon be better than Norris.

If they were going to buy out Norris contract, Piastri should be even cheaper (for now!).

Max Verstappen will have bodyguards for the Mexican Grand Prix confirms Marko

"Max doesn’t actually want that and is relaxed. But we have responsibility for him. So we just want to be on the safe side."
.
Here we are. Max yesterday with his two bodyguards with thanks to papa Perez! #-o

Wonder what beamwing will be used. Hungary or Zandvoort spec. My guess is Zandvoort for the efficiency even if it's not very important here

I do not think the fan booing was from perez performances. Maybe Marko's comments coming back to haunt him.
They need to be interviewed. The Mexican sponsors may well just cancel their support if the team is not popular with their main market.
But i hope it's only a fringe element of passionate fans which would not be a major concern for Max moving around freely.

What to expect from redbull this weekend?
Back to business? I cannot see much concern at this track. I am wondering if Perez can qualify on the front row.
For Sure!!

I do not get what you again mean with Marco, but it is quite clear, that they are supporting Perez as good as possible to get P2 in the WDC. That is the core and remaining goal for the team.
I think this is mostly achieved. Now they will stay clean and sign the contracts with the Mexican sponsors...after the season the seat will be discussed....after the contracts with the sponsors are signed.

Qualifying is very selective, overtaking very difficult. Do you really see hope for Perez?

Plus the start. A big, big danger. Mercedes was super close last year.

Mexico is one of the more generous circuits with regard to the starts considering that everyone just bails across the run off in the slightest bit of inconvenience.

Agreed but the rb18 was always weak in low speed. Merc isn't usually any better than RB in low speed corners. Braking into T1 and the stadium section are the main areas the car will struggle imo

Agreed. The car is still the best car of the field but the relative strengths from the rb18 to the 19 have changed quite a bit. As for the w13 and 14 and certainly the Ferrari.

last year the main advantage of a mercedes came from the fast corners, the high speed section between 7-11. russell and ham had 0.2s+ on max in qualifying there. they were more on less on par in slow speed stuff, but mercedes looked better on the kerbs and had overall slight advantage in low speed corners. but russell made a big mistake coming into the stadium on his best lap and that was it for him, whilst max was able to find a lot of time somehow in the slow corners at the end of the lap. max was making up time on the straights.
this year, i don't think have ever been the fastest cars in slow speed corners at any stage of the season. brrrake have analysed cars strength after the first half of the year(podcast with autosport.com), and his diagram showed red bull were amongst the midfield cars in slow speed, being the fastest car in all other type of corners and the straights. I've no Idea how reliable he is, but he should be.
here it is:

I'm sorry but the timing, tone, everything makes this video feel a bit odd! Marko also doesn't feature.

Feels a bit like a farewell video you make when a driver leaves.

Feels really a bit off that they're putting effort to make it feel special.
