It seems that car is back to business.

Pace seemed quite good, hopefully they can have a good race result and keep this level until end of the season
Now in retrospect Alo said some days ago that the objective for these final races was one last podium this season so he already gave a hint that the car would improve, though to be honest not sure if enough for a podium.

race pace seemed to be pretty solid considering both cars would have killed tyres trying to overtake. will be in a battle with mclaren for final podium position
Everybody killed the tyres not just Aston. Top10 will be possible, but max P8. 2 Redbull, Ferrari, Mercedes looking fast.
Not sure about that one..
For Ferrari it will depend if they can run the race in clear air

Piastri's tires were dieing at the end. Sure Alonso would have gotten him on the next lap.

Thing is, the race is different. You're gonna have atleast 2 pitstops. You have 3 sets of tires to keep in their wear windows. If you're tire wear is only 1 or 2 laps more per set, it's manageable with a harder tire in between.

I think McLaren are faster, it's just Piastri is lacking race pace. But for Merc it's clearly possible to finish ahead of them. Ferrari will be weather/traffic dependent as they had issues with the temp. The AT will be in the mix too

I think between P4-P7 is possible. Ferrari car only typically works well on one compound in the weekend, and while they have fresh softs for today they'll have to use the mediums as well. The colder track with wind flipped 180 degrees may also hurt them as I believe it'll be a tailwind down the straight which should hurt the efficient Ferraris

Behind AMR is a merc who will be having to bring tyres in very gently and slow in a straight line. It bodes well for early phases to be calm, especially if they let Lando through as they are not fighting him

Not really relevant in the Aston thread but I remember last season people tried to make sense of Alo's extreme bad luck with reliability compared to Ocon's side of the garage (think it was 11 separate races, of which 6 were DNFs, compared to 2 or 3) by suggesting that by virtue of him being the faster driver he put the components on more stress which resulted in more issues. Even some Alo haters suggested he just didn't treat his car as good... but now this year it's been Stroll who's clearly had the worst end of the stick in reliability terms despite him usually not being as close to the car's potential as Fernando is, and we've never heard that argument again. I think this proves that unless you're really out to damage components on purpose, it's a luck exercise who is touched with more unreliability or not.

The wind direction has changed. Yesterday, it was in your face down the start/stop straight. Today it will be at their back. Look for overshooting in turn 1.

No one here seriously suggested beating any top 3 team. Team continuously downplays its expectations in social media and through de la Rosa / Fernando. For me even the 5th car would be a good step.
Even though the first part of the season exceeded all expectations, in the end it looks like it will end the season as the 5th car, which is a good step all things considered, let's not forget the journey. We want another step next year though.

Both cars started slow & paid the price.
Another standing start is scary

Hamilton locked up the left front tyre which is the limited tyre this circuit. Thats pretty benefitial for Fernando.
