FIA might have to supply the teams with a new specification of vehicle overnight so the fans can get some value for their £844 general admission ticket.

The current concepts are:

Seems like logical quick fix. Maybe it delays FP2.

Strip needs to be reopened to public access by 4am Vegas time. If they can start early enough, they could have 90mins

Expected nothing less than this.   Why should they pay attention to welding those covers properly...

Hey, its Vegas, lets see who's lucky and who isn't  Its like Russian Roulette, but Vegas edition - the bullet/cover won't kill you, but it might just make your car spin into the wall and anything can happen then!

On a serious note, Alpine and Ferrari need to be compensated somehow, Sainz has PU and battery damage along with chassis.

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Agreed. Damage caused by circuit fault should have provisions under budget cap rules IMO

Apparently there are 140 drain covers...

The possibility of this event falling on it's first hurdle weighs heavy on the Liberty media guys I'm sure.

What a cockup.

Indy was a bad show but didn't cost billions when it failed to produce a race...

But how can you count this? How much money is a chassis repair or an old engine? It is hard enough to go with a new part that is produced, you can somehow start counting the hours and over years your controller gets better and better...but internal repairs?
i even doubt that the engine costs are in any way correct in F1.

Luckily the Macau GP is in parallel...FIA does something right ;)

Exclude the new chassis from the cost cap for those two cars and allow all cars a new PU free of charge so Sainz doesn't have an unfair advantage over the field. Is that too much?

I think the issue would be the suppliers not having the PUs at the track ready to do that

Also I think the PU lost is a Friday engine and happens 2 weekends from the end, which makes things a lot less painful for Ferrari. But fundamentally I agree that it's incredibly unfair and things should be done to compensate for the losses
