I'm just worried this is the start of many unforeseen bad events this weekend. I already know Sargeant will put it in the wall at least a few times, but who else will and will the track hold up?
Yer I just saw that, and I guess it is a good point, how would you test for something like that? A powerful electromagnet?
No, the concrete did not break. Cast iron rim broke, that holds the cast iron lid. Why did it break? looks like the lid, or the bolt that was supposed to keep it in place came lose for whatever reason. It needs a serious investigation to find out what went wrong exactly, was it a human error or bad design, inappropriate for f1 running this track.
Has there ever been a F1 event held in the middle of the night local time? How awake and mentally ready are the pilots between 2 and 3.30? Indeed a clownshow....

I think I recall that there has been another occasion where the lid had been welded to the frame and whole thing has been pulled through the tarmac- could have been Russell in his Williams days in Baku?

City street tracks bring the money. There will be more to come, and will eventually be the death of F1. Sadly, it will morph into a Formula E type series
Clarkson started asking Fred about fp1, and then Fred raise concern over the incident, and then Tom tried to change the topic about that, Fred wasn't bothered about anything else. And then someone asked from the crowd if this incident is sort of black eye for F1 on which Toto started dramatizing which is interesting because when there were bouncing problems then it was a great risk for drivers health. But now suddenly, loose track surface which resulted in major damage on Sainz's car and could possibly have hurt him.. That is OK.. Lmao
