I often used to go in the original wind tunnel in Brackley when it was running. That was a very old design. Even sitting in the control room during tests TBF it wasn't overly noisy. You certainly heard it standing next to the tunnel but once inside offices it was greatly diminished.

The flipside was when it was running you got a sense of "good, they are testing something new" so it was a sub conscious psychological boost

No the one they used before when they were Jordan>Force India. The old Reynard WT IIRC

I was nominated sub contractor for them from 1999 till I left the UK in 2015

During that time I had been in to Mercedes F1 but only twice and only into the model shop.. :-)
Oh but many times into their Northampton Ilmor engine F1 testing bays many times (not with the engine actually running H&S etc although you really could hear them bad boys running when in the corridors, I did ask one of the lads about the noise going up and down and he said "Oh that one is doing the Japanese GP!)

I know it's probably meaningless at the moment, but for a track that's not really meant to suit the car the pace looks pretty good so far.

The track evolution is probably quite insane though. But confident they're not going to be complete rubbish this weekend.

EDIT: Just did lap times on the soft at a very similar time to Leclerc and was 0.5 seconds off. As Ferrari look like the clear pace setters that's pretty encouraging.

well im not surprise if the pole is around 1;33, and really hoping Alonso can go near it


Edit: Alonso is quick in sector 1, he booked 27s

I see one high speed corner and it's out of a acceleration zone, turns 3 and 4. I don't think it puts much emphasis on the front end. So I'm no sure why anyone would think it's not good for AMR.

The race pace still needs to be sorted out, Sainz (the best in FP2) was on 39.6, Alonso was on 40.6. As someone already said they put back the old rear area.

I think the characteristics of the car have changed quite lot throughout the year. So it's hard to say exactly what AMR is good at in the second half of the season. At the start of the season it was bad Aero efficiency, draggy but great low/medium cornering. Then they chased Aero efficient and were sort of average at everything/ lost.

People were saying this track is low downforce track similar to Baku which AMR weren't bad in but they would have still had the benefit of their flexi wing at that point presumably?

I certainly couldn't say with out confidence which tracks would suit ARM in the second half of the season. Seems like a lottery to me but others will probably have more insight. What do you think?

Lawrence is amazing at turning round businesses and take it to next level. If I am not wrong, he bought Force India for around 200M.Taking to valuation of 1B$ is quite sick -
