Does Alpine make more modifications to their front wing than other teams? Maybe I'm wrong but it would seem that they work more on that area than others
Very exposed rear-end from AMuS - is this the first we see of these internal metal struts from Alpine (that presumably support the floor)? @Blackout We've seen similar feature on RB18/RB19 and Mercedes W14
Aren't those some of the parts they used to test some 2024 design directions?
I've lost faith in Alpine when they came out with their new inlets. I went back and looked at early 2022 pictures and saw this ...
Look at the small amount of sidepod kick and the under floor exit in the front. The inlets back then look some what like what they have now, just upside down. They've gone full circle. They appear to be guessing.
Either it's as simple as an opening to route cables or hoses, or it is designed to be the intended point of failure.
I could imagine that if the floor would bottom out, and the force would exceed what the stucture/parts/floor can handle, the metal gaff would buckle there, ensuring no damage to the gearbox (as gearboxes are limited) or to save the floor from cracking.
The design of the gaff is very simple. A fully weight optimised solution would likely look different. Simple designs are easy to predict, so buckling forces can be quite accurately designed in.
