Sainz had a couple of good races this year (Monza and Singapore) which were, for me, the only real times I’ve seen him be properly impressive as a Ferrari driver. Even then, in Monza Leclerc had more race pace.

Ultimately he was ok as a number 2 (Rubens level) but was often given equal number 1 treatment, which ended up costing Leclerc. You could either treat him as a proper number two or bring in someone deserving of the equal number one. They chose the latter.

I’m intrigued, somewhat excited but also cautiously sceptical about Hamilton joining - it will certainly be interesting but I don’t know if it will work. I think it at least shows ambition. I’m most buoyed by the fact that he wanted to join likely bodes well for Ferrari’s development prospects as Hamilton has a Fangio-esque knack for getting in the right cars at the right time.

The share price has to be primarily correlated to Ferrari releasing today the fiscal report of Q4 and of 2023 year.

So, I would like to think Ferrari showed Lewis the 2026 engine dyno numbers. Chassis will remain an unknown though.

What this shows to me is that Vasseur is a serious TP who does not settle for anything other than absolute best. He went after Wache last spring. After it was no longer an option he managed to get the next best candidate, which was Serra. He could've settled for Sainz this time, but prioritized getting Lewis. It's a risky choice, sure, but it's exciting times.

Binotto would've never gone this far.

That does not align with what Formu1a.uno, who broke this news, were reporting. That it was a joint decision between Elkann and Vasseur.

True but there's all the reason to think Ferrari will finally start putting more than 1 piece together at a time. So Ferrari would be a viable team for any driver who wants to win a championship.

It has to be a combination of factors,

a) Money
b) Fames and legacy of Ferrari
c) Merc's lack of performance
d) Fulfillment of childhood dreams
e) Relationship with Fred
f) Both Ferrari and LH have common interest in America

Hamilton has nothing to prove. Ferrari lots to learn and plenty to offer besides F1.

If Hamilton wins in Ferrari he’ll be the greatest ever, alone up there.

Current strategy and operation woes will be fixed by the staff Ham brings with him, likely his race engineer for example. I’m more interested in the personnel coming with him almost, he’s a known quantity.
