The sidepod inlet almost looks like the W13 inlet turned on it's side:

I believe those are reflections of the markings from the track surface, probably too slow for something to be that apparent

Perhaps they just have one stencil to draw the inlet so they had to improvise.

Hello, is it because of the angle of the shot( in the gif) or the second element of the front wing is quite narrow? It was not like that in the render....

Very bulggy driver upper cockpit area resemble Alpine from a couples of years ago... not so good for the CoG... did they placed stuff above the car just to have a big undercut?

I don't think it's really any bulkier than last year's car. Less so perhaps in some respects.

Also worth nothing the angle upon which this photo was taken, is from above likely on a gantry or bridge. That "bulk" is sloping down towards the rear of the ca rather than all being sat up high.

One thought occurred to me: with this front wing, you are sacrificing some actual surface area (and hence downforce) for this vortex generation. I know that conventional wisdom is that this is a fine trade off but I wonder if, with this generation of cars and the large diffuser/rearwards downforce centre, other teams haven’t followed this route purely for a question of balance?

Part of the reason this occurred to me is because it seems so simple that I’m surprised no one thought of it before (including Mercedes given, as shown here, they essentially exploited a similar trick in the past anyway).

They aren't really front end downforce limited in the current regs. There's plenty of scope to increase front wing angle of attack for more front load. The current wings are optimised for flow structure and efficiency.

So worst case they become a bit less efficient on the front end. But I don't think it's going to make an understeery car with no scope to resolve it.

that's reflections from the armco barrier.

The supposed vortex you are pointing out here way too far inset from the shedding edge on the front wing and I doubt you'd see it roll over at 30mph.
