This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
I would much rather not be right at the front at Bahrain provided we have a better platform to develop throughout the season and end the season challenging for wins and then in 2025 at the start of the season start from where we left off. We didn't end 2023 very well at all.
Like in Brazil?
Even though we got a podium, race pace wasn't that impressive, Alonso was way off the pace of McLaren and Max. He had to block Perez for a long time to hold onto the podium and Charles didn't even make the grid, there were a lot of extenuating circumstances that weekend, including Mercedes picking the wrong setup due to the sprint weekend format.
I think they were quite good in Brazil. at a super macro level, they were about the same distance from the leaders in Brazil as they were in Bahrain (at least in terms of delta to first). If anything I think the Brazil result is further underscored by the fact that Stroll was only about 5s behind Alonso and not the usual 20-30s. Merc and Ferrari were considerably behind in comparison. I would say they ended the year a close p5 but much closer to McLaren than say Alpine.

There were a certain set of circumstance that played out last year that caused the year to go the way it went. Things like the ruling on the front wing, the change in tires compounds and whatever else might have lead to them having subpar upgrades during the season. You can't expect the same things to occur this year. There might be new ones though. I think you want them to be at the front in Bahrain and just bring it on in the rest of the year.
RB was so fast at the start of last year that it made some other teams give up on their entire concept. This was a decisive moral victory that set the tone for the season. It is better to be out front at the start of the year for that reason.
Just as long as developments move them forwards this year I won’t be too concerned about where they are amongst the chasing 4 at the beginning. But hopefully they start strong and finish stronger.
As we have time now until next week, we can discuss the really important things:
Will ALO demand to use the black T-cam (#1 driver), or is he forced to use the yellow T-cam (#2 driver)...

Is a serious question? :S
he was joking
Alonso will keep the yellow T-cam so Lance gets to come first at something and it also suits his helmet
Preferential treatment for STR, as expected, but at least the best option in theory for the other driver (only 1 afternoon, but the last one at least).
