From the onboards I’m watching w/Sainz at the wheel, the car looks like its rotates far easier than last year’s car. Might be setup or pavement but just an observation.

Other than that, just been short out-lap-in stints.

Nah, it's the track getting 3s better than this morning, car is definitely worse than last year...
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

I don’t know, if Punxsutawney Charles didn’t do a backflip after getting out of the car, it possibly could be…

Race sim for Sainz. Brace yourselves, take your drugs.
EDIT: no, it ended up being a long stint, apparently. High 37s.

My early analysis based on nothing more than live timing is that MCL and FER are close, MER is a dog. RBR looks far in front but hard to say how much, their longer stints have less fuel than the rest since they are in the 1.34.5s vs 1.37.8-9 of FER/MCL and 1.38.5s of MER. Ferrari setup doesn't seem right yet though, at least for the single lap. Not sure where AMR is.

My concern is that RB appears further ahead than a year ago. There was never any doubt that they would remain 1st, but they appear to grow their advantage over competition YoY

Compared to pre-season testing a year ago. Not over us, but over the second fastest car.

yeah very good. Came out again and did another few laps in low 1.37.2-3 and now back to mid-high 1.37s on the same set of c3s that are now on 26 laps or approaching half race distance. That's good.

RBR chose to hit the ground running and not play around, no use in sandbagging when the race is in one week time at the same track, it's not like anyone can respond.
For Ferrari it's more comprehensible being "bad" this time since a lot has changed from their 2023 car, there are sims but it's a very different car.
2023 was worst(imo) because the car was a direct evolution of it's predecessor that should've hit the ground running, and yet it was bad from day one and kept being bad until midseason.
