that maybe true but when you compare the Aston/Mclaren they seem more fluid cars on the track. The redbull seems the best out on circuit. Sector 2 the merc seems stable but just doesn't have the speed of the others not sure but i hope its massive fuel runs more than other teams.

They're most likely doing higher fuels runs, I find it hard to believe the Merc is now 1.6secs off McLaren on single lap pace and the McLaren 1.1 off RB. We also dint know engine modes

i hope so. But why is the bouncing coming back? does this show they really have no idea how to get rid of the issue? maybe they still don't understand the regs? on full race run less bouncing but thats maybe fuel effect and raising height?

When they attempted performance runs, it didnt look great.

So its hard to glean anything when most of the time, they were long running. Lewis is an easy read, so we'll know this time tomorrow.

One thing is certain. Red Bull are dialed in already

Russell's last run on the C2 tires where the onboard was shown, it was sparking on the ground but not porpoising anymore and looked stable, something the commentators pointed out

yes but remember in 2022 the bouncing was less in races as the fuel effect/raising height for race runs. I just hope they data collecting today and not going for any runs which be for performance monitoring.

Merc is notorious for off-kilter test programs. I don't think we have any true depiction of where they are.

It was less in the race because they had to raise the car or else they would've slammed into the ground too much and worn down the plank.

Looks like the W15 is pretty consistent on high fuel laps, good times on the C1

RedBull didn't do a race sim (nobody did but Merc) and that looks like a race sim. A high 1.35 on last stint is about 1.5-2s slower than where they should be, possibly due to C1 tire that is too slow for a last stint.

No times for Max on the C1 I think but he was doing 1:32's - 1:34's on the softer C3

Can someone explain to me why they’re faster on C1 than C2 and faster on C2 than C3? What would be the reason to do higher fuel loads on softer tires and vice versa?

It's a race sim, fuel load goes down as the race sim goes on, every new tire is faster than the older tire from before plus there's less fuel. To hide their performance they went with harder compounds as the race sim went on instead of the more typical "other way around".

Yup - agreed. Merc is always unknown in tests. On day 3 we can see other teams' race sims and gauge them
