The engineers at the other top teams might as well go home
ngl, based on every other teams contributions these past two years. I dont think they ever came to work in the first place. it's the only way to explain this dramatic disparity.

Thousands of degree-holding engineers versus one old guy. Goes to show, getting a degree means nothing in life. The only way to achieve great things is to have passion & love for what you're doing, not a piece of paper saying you memorized words really well (ie. school degree). Hats off to Newey.

Newey proves that in his cars, clearly anyone, even Mazepin, can be a world champion. =D> =D> =D>
I replied to a very similarly-ignorant comment on the 2024 pecking order thread. You guys need to elevate your way of thinking, really. Clearly you never worked on a competitive tech environment.
Also, yeah, let's pretend a guy called Pierre Wachè doesn´t exist.

I have a hunch that the reason why nobody can match RBR is due to their suspension. They must have found a trick in there.
Unlikely at this point. Nobody is porpoising anymore. They are ahead because everyone else spent the last 2 seasons preventing porpoising and instead their suspension+floor back then was already good enough to avoid it so they focused on everything else and have been good at it.

Hi everybody, it's time for timing data.
Due to popular request, here is the link to the apparently "traditional" Google Sheet with all timing data for the whole day.
(Not sure if anybody else makes these as well by now)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Please do a bit of a sanity check when using the data. I'm a bit short on time and just quickly tried to bend my upload script into submission, persuaded google to use the correct data types and hope everything is good now.

Day 2 and Day 3 will be added to the currently empty worksheets.

The sheets for 2023 and 2022 are linked in the document as well, if you want to compare.

It should be possible to properly filter and sort all columns by drivers, lap times and so on.

And if you want, you might of course add the link to the opening post so it doesn't get lost as easily.
Isn't this @f1debrief's work? Here is the link.

You are responding to the author of the python fastf1 library that everyone uses to draw fancy graph with f1 data, probably f1debrief too.

My apologies if that's the case. I wasn't aware! Thanks for the info.

interesting comparison.
Very interesting.
Let's assume he was pushing more in qualy in risky high speed corners. That's where he was losing time compared to 2023. BUT.... very interestingly... he gained nearly 1 sec in slow speed corners (esp. the braking zones) with the new car. That's crazy.

It is the area they wanted to improve most over 2023

These dips in slow speed corners followed by a rise and leaving the difference where it was before braking indicates a difference in braking point. Unfortunately, the track is still dirty so there are external influences hampering performance of every car compared to 2023 Q session.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Ted Kravitz - you don't need a white visible layer of sun protection cream for it to work.

F1Tv should really have onboard cams for testing.

Yeah, car still didn't look agile though. Much settled.
