Remember that this is a completely new car, only RB McL and Aston kept their overall aero concept.

It will take to understand the car and for the drivers to adapt. Lot of room for improvement. Great start.

Now let's see tomorrow if we can keep Max within range

I wonder if Charles will be able to keep within DRS of Max tomorrow, or if that would compromise his tyres in doing so.

Not surprised to see Leclerc dissapointed, I expected track got slower, but it was tyre prep + different markers for completely new C3s for the final lap. Nice to see him unhappy with that!

Strong lap from Sainz as well, might have made it to P3 today but he probably has the car for P3 tomorrow. Good start, good stuff, well done Ferrari, progress kept up with RB development after a torture that was 2023!
Said the used tyre on the first run ruined the rythm for him but I can hardly be mad because I know the pace was there.

Will be close between LEC RUS SAI and Perez first few laps tomorrow. Hopefully we don’t cook our tires.

Hopefully Leclerc puts so much pressure on Max right away and makes him cook his own tyres.

DRS from Lap 2, it could actually be a fun race unlike last year
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

great stuff, but also bit disappointed, it would have been pole or close to pole. Hoping Sainz overtake Russell and we can have a nice double 2 and 3 podium [-o<

8 consecutive sessions that Leclerc is ahead of Sainz in qualifying.

Incredible considering how quick Carlos is, especially over one lap despite the media absolutely not highlighting this.

It's very weird. In Carlos's time here, I have been more impressed by his one lap pace than his race pace, yet the media paints him the opposite way.

Because the media is filled of incompetent people mainly. They see Leclerc losing time compared to a random driver in the race? It's his fault because he is mediocre at tyre management, not even thinking that maybe the chassis simply can't keep up with the others due to tyre wear.

Having said that, Sainz is usually quite smart in the race and had some great ideas in key moments like Singapore last year.

Media seem hell-bent on pushing the narrative that Ferrari changed the wrong driver.
I heard this kind of implication twice this weekend from two different commentators (non-english broadcast), once in FP1, once in Q1.

True, but for every 2 smart ideas he has a pretty dumb one that he gets to blame on the team later. It's not his fault - just that you can't expect a driver to be a race engineer at the same time. Hopefully we get many "Singapores" this season :)

It would help to not get outqualified by your teammate 8 races in a row for that to be the truth :D

I dont want to sounds conspiratory, but I get the feeling that Sainz just has better connections with the media in general. He is good friends with Lawrence Baretto and Karun Chandok. Brundle is a good friend of Sr and I believe Naomi is also a family friend. They always speak favorably about him if you notice, to the point where some of them (not Brundle) constantly try to discredit Leclerc.
