Compared to last year Im satisfied.
We were 1.8s faster than last year's Quali.

Mercedes 0.9s faster
Aston 0.8s faster
Ferrari 0.6s faster
Red Bull 0.5s faster
To do something well is so worthwhile that to die trying to do it better cannot be foolhardy. It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one's ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone. ― Bruce McLaren

I just watched Ted, he literally said Zak brown did not want to bring parts to the sprint races, which if true means we bring them to Japan, before China, or Italy, after Miami, with both China and Miami being sprint races.

Lando: "I messed up sector 1, had a little oversteer on the exit of 1, just as I came on the throttle, and it cost me easily 1 and a half tenths, and it cost me P2. It's frustrating, and because of this I felt like I wanted to push a bit more... wrong thing to do... then I paid the price again in turn 4 with another couple of mistakes, the rest of the lap was there or thereabouts. The car was easily good enough for a front row."

I hope Lando finally bags a win or pole, I think his mind is messing him up due to pressure.

It genuinely seems like that is happening.

But also, let’s not overreact. Piastri was much slower all qualifying.

I don't understand these type of comments, one can say "could have", "should have" and "lost this amount", they all mean nothing without context.
It means nothing if he feels he could have gone 3 tenths faster if all the drivers who finished ahead also feel they made mistakes and could have gone 3 or 4 tenths faster, maybe the drivers behind also feel they made mistakes and could have gone 5 tenths faster...

Sure but the drivers are able to nail a lap - it is not like each lap they make 3-4 tenths of mistakes like Lando did here. It is possible people ahead of him made mistakes as well it doesn't change the fact that if Lando did his S1 from an earlier run - he would be much higher.

But others do also make mistakes, Lec made 3 tenths of errors, had he strung all his best sectors together he would be on pole, had Lando he would not, nor would Max...

I feared we would look a chunk off the ultimate pace this weekend but actually, at a track we’ve been historically poor at, we’ve shown some genuine promise.

Let’s hope for a clean race tomorrow, get some great data and see if we can fight for a podium. Let’s then see where the development path takes us- I think it will be fierce this year!!

It looks like, if Leclerc, Alonso, Norris, Hamilton hadn't made mistakes they would all have berm higher. So, its not bad company.

Wow super close today. Looking forward to see how race pace pans out tomorrow

Let’s hope this isn’t a track the plays to McLaren’s strengths. Either way, looks like a good season ahead and a real development race

I don't think Lando and other top drivers will claim to overstate the size of their mistakes and what could have been. Esp. Lando. I believe him if he says the car had a front row in it

Perfect lap, shown earlier says he could be 3rd.
