I’m baffled at the speed of the SF-24 in the medium- and high-speed corners. I think this should definitely not go unnoticed.

Basically the fastest car overall in medium and high speed stuff - in very windy conditions. I still think they were clever with setup, or they couldn't extract more in T1-2-3 so they inadvertently "saved" the tyres for the rest of the lap...

Let's see how the race goes, they've done a good job with the car, now the race execution must be up to the task.

Looking at S2 alone, 7 tenths faster than the pre TD39 F1-75, 2 tenths faster than the 2021 RedBull and only 3 tenths down on the monster of a car which the Mercedes 2020 was. Overall that’s really impressive.
I also think that they were clever with setup, btw.

I’m even more excited for the race as we will see to which extent they managed to improve the race pace and, as you say, the execution generally, strategical calls included.

Agreed. You guys know that "one upgrade away" thingy... Well could this be it?

As teams tend do focus on the weaknesses of the car and slow speed seems to be more of a weak point for now, that could be the case. But we will need 3-4 races to see the full picture and the full potential of the cars.

Yeah it's definitely not related to DRS. We can't allow RB to have any advantage anywhere. There is nothing special here.

* The 2nd straight (800-1400m) has DRS and the 2 cars go up to the same speed at the same rate, but then VER switches to 8th gear while LEC stays in 7th, at that point the speed trace diverges.

Yes I think if Leclerc had just upshifted to 8th, he would have matched Verstappen. That missed upshift cost him 5km/h at the end of the straight..

It's just derating. 8th gear would have done nothing to increase speed. Those last few kmh on the RB are nice to have, but give nearly nothing in laptime. Braking zone is only a second away so not much gain to be had.

Yeah, I’m not saying it made any difference in laptime, just pointing out the speed difference there isn’t due to DRS in my opinion.

There is something off with the car surely, it’s apparent. He’s saying that it‘s steering to the right under braking.

Are you watching the race or? He has a brake issue. Temperature imbalance of 100 degrees, locking, car steering to the right under braking, Charles saying it’s too unsafe to fight.
