I think people are missing point. Alonso is racing to win championship so out of the box car has be top 2 or 3, that was the case last year before they lost the plot. This year they are 5th fastest so no way alonso has a chance. I am ok with aston being 10th or 18th, i just want alonso to retire and end this pain for fans. Let stroll take team forward and by 2050 they should become champion for sure.

It's not painful for me to see Alonso not win. Maybe you need to adjust your expectations. It was never the expectations when he joined AMR. With regards to Merc as a race seat, I think the odds are about the same for both Merc and AMR winning the championship in 2024 or 2025. If the odds were significantly better at Merc, Hamilton wouldn't be leaving.

Lastly, 1 race doesn't make a season.

This season is the one where they will need to prove they know how to develop as a top team, no more excuses. If they don't, then I prefer not to think about the consequences. If they do, there may still be good moments ahead this year.

No need to be Over-sarcastic towards the team. Applause & Glory that Alonso received during one year at AM is 100 times bigger then his time at 'Alpine' & 'Mclaren' combined.
Stop this 'Poor Alonso' nonsense; he is equally blamed for hir career & wrong choices. Has Krack or Fallows or Lawrence promised him world championship? Team is consistence from day one; AM wants to grow and improve with world-class driver like him. Efforts are visible in terms of infrastructure, resources and funding. It's unfortunate that it is not converting into performance on the track.

The Aston got faster in the winter, that's for sure! The Aston was even faster than last year's pole, and Alonso's time in 2023 was 1.30.3, and now it's 1.29.5. It gives us some hope that Alonso was as fast as Ferrari and McLaren in the last stage. So they speed is same with a light car, as it we seen at qualification also. Only something went wrong with the heavy car. It could also be the Mercedes rear suspension or wrong ride height or just to much tyre save for 2 stop and lose a lot of time.

Pedro did mention something about ride heights and fuel loads so it could be something they still need to work on.

We did wish for something more, but with a cool head we didn't expect anything else because the numbers were not deceiving. In the strategy meeting before the race Fernando's expected position without any accidents or problems was P9 and in the end he was P9. You always expect to be a little bit better, but in the end that's where we are.

We have seen a car that was more competitive in qualifying, it is surprisingly fast, then in the race we suffered a lot, especially with full tanks. The team tried to go against the tide, that is to say, to try to extend the stops to see if a safety car or a virtual one would come out and it could benefit them.

We are where the pre-season tests showed us to be, yesterday we were a little bit on top but we have to keep understanding the car, maximising it and above all evolving it. We have to work especially on tyre degradation, yesterday Fernando was there on a lap in the top three, but in race pace it was clear today, we have to understand why, but it was clear that we have worse degradation than other teams. It's about working on the car, working on the different heights that are intimately linked to different fuel levels, understanding it and evolving it.

[Question about the coming upgrades]
They are in the oven. Work is in progress.
What we do have is a very clear development plan, we already have several leaps planned throughout the season, I can't give you more details because it would be really irresponsible on my part. We are working very hard and we will see how the next few weeks go in the wind tunnel, the production.

It's possible that while there are new weaknesses, that there are now new strengths. So they could perform better at circuits where they were not as good last year.

I think if one maintains any objectivity at all, race 1 cannot be the end all be all for any team, whether they are at the front or the back. It may only be with hindsight that race 1 has a similar result to other GPs but Bahrain has always been considered an outlier track.

Alonso: I think we have improved the top speed and the fast corners. Obviously, we have reduced the slow corners. And now we have to analyze

Alonso confirms change of strengths. In this case, Jeddah should be a good track for them.

If they could set up the car in a way that gives up one lap performance in exchange of better tyre preservation that would be great, because there is some inherent pace in the car , of course it is very easy to say and more difficult to achieve

The point guys is that we shouldn't discuss how much Aston Martin is trying to improve, because it's obvious. They are spending a lot of money on the structures and even this year's car you can tell is an extreme concept. So they are not limited to small improvements. But we are faced with two types of people: are you a fan of Alonso or Aston Martin? I find myself in the first case and I know well that he will be able to race until 2026. We have to thank Aston Martin very much for what they gave to Alonso last year, but the truth is that this year can already be thrown away, Redbull is unattainable . I knew in the tests that they were ahead but not 1 second per lap as I saw in Bahrain, therefore the world championship can be thrown away this year. Alonso will race until 2026 at the latest, he must decide which is his best opportunity, for next year the best choices are Mercedes and Redbull, for 2026 Mercedes or the unknown Aston Martin. This is the real dilemma.
