He had a massive tow from Lewis down the start, so that probably inflated his final run time
He improved his S1 time about half a tenth. He got a tow from HAM until the start finish line, but ALO also said that letting HAM pass compromised tyre temp and thus no ideal first corners.

Why does Piastri only have one tyre (a medium) that isn't used? Did he scrub his hard on purpose?
yeah, same as Norris and the Aston Martins, they all did one lap only on those used tires (in FP3).

Norris kept another set of mediums to potentially use in the race, Piastri went for an additional set of softs for Qualifying instead, that's why their selection is different.

Medium - Hard for most the front runners.

Ferrari be silly to not start Bearman on softs, to get a good lap on the first lap, and hopefully into the 2nd lap whilst others take a little longer to warm the medium up fully. He likely has the pace to get past a few cars ahead of him. Just depends when a safety car comes out as if its in the early laps then the medium runners arent going to be pitting that early. Just hope cars in that area can avoid tangling into the first corner.

Seems like it, both Mclarens and Astons used this strategy.

Mercedes 7th & 8th. Pretty awful
How is that awful?! Having the 4th fastest car is a great effort!

Aston Martin and McLaren are exceptional teams with fast, well tuned cars, their cars are well suited to this circuit and Mercedes GP cannot expect to be ahead of them all the time!

It wouldn't be silly though, he very likely will not have the hang on how to manage the tyres so a S-H is pretty much on the limit, even for already established drivers it would be.

it's appendectomy and they said it went very smooth. Laparoscopic appendectomy would barely have stitches in the lower abdomen and operation maybe lasted 15 minutes, I doubt he was even fully under during it, might just have been heavily sedated and fully woke up in 2-3 hours.

Modern medicine is something else.

Alpine better pray for a 2023 like McLaren type resurgence.

Clear as day jump start for Norris

Already RB 1-2 (Deja vu RB DRS just too good, whereas others stuck in train)
