I mean it's been the case with McLaren since the beginning of 2023. If it was an easy fix they'd have done it along with the rest of the redesign

Looking at F1-Tempo.com for the last 5 races of last year, Mclaren seemed to have got a little more on top of the issue and was as fast as most around them with DRS open, but not the fastest and still with a little work to do. But we were closer than we are now.
I'm just saying it's not a "quick fix" that you can accomplish with for instance just a new rear wing.mwillems wrote: ↑09 Mar 2024, 18:45Looking at F1-Tempo.com for the last 5 races of last year, Mclaren seemed to have got a little more on top of the issue and was as fast as most around them with DRS open, but not the fastest and still with a little work to do. This year, we appear not to have kept up with everyone else. But then we also know that the efficiency is something they are working on still with the aero package.
So I'm not sure it is that we can never get on top of it, just that we may have stood still in that department and others improved.
The data was for Norris, Piastri, Max and Leclerc, I probably should have included Sainz but I was being lazy.
Qualy laps top speed as % of fastest recorded speed:
2024 Jeddah 98.187%
2024 Bahrian 97.516%
2023 Abu Dhabi 98.784%
2023 Vegas 98.817%
2023 Brazil 99.700%
2023 Mexico 98.575%
2023 US GP 99.083%
Jeddah isn't as bad as Bahrain but we have a longer straight so it counts more, but so far it is a step backwards on where we were last year.
Yeah I get it, I was adding to what you were saying and showing that there was a relative decline over winter, not trying to contradict you.organic wrote: ↑09 Mar 2024, 18:52I'm just saying it's not a "quick fix" that you can accomplish with for instance just a new rear wing.mwillems wrote: ↑09 Mar 2024, 18:45Looking at F1-Tempo.com for the last 5 races of last year, Mclaren seemed to have got a little more on top of the issue and was as fast as most around them with DRS open, but not the fastest and still with a little work to do. Yeah good spot, he was over the line too.
Not seen anything, but I'm sure he wheels were too far forward, perhaps I'm wrong.
