I would say Ferrari are much closer to RB than 0.3s in quali. The gaps in first two rounds at end of Q3 weren't wholly representative.
Yeah pure performance wise, Ferrari might have been the car to beat at Bahrain even.

Potentially yes, as Bahrain Q2 and a not maximized technical potential at Jeddah proved (too light on the tyres and no use of a low-mid downforce set up in SA).
I think it all depends on the improvements Red Bull will bring to Suzuka/Imola and what Ferrari’s development responds in the same races.

They seems to be betting on testing things out at Suzuka, but the chances of bad weather there are quite high so that might not happen. If it's cold/rainy there we would end up with only one race under "normal" conditions out of the first 4

I hope nice weather as I’m in japan for 10 days around that time. Usually April is nice with fairly little rain. Rains start in may-june for the whole summer with typhoons and such.

I think the main upgrades will be imola. Might see some small tweaks in Suzuka.

The high deg track might suit the sf24 in Japan. By that I don’t think 1-2 are possible unless Perez does a Perez, but possibly could put some pressure onto them if we can force max to push more than he’d like.

The reality is with the modern day f1 being a race management exercise in managing stints and tyres, max has been cruising for the last year knowing that he doesn’t need to do anything more than manage the tyres.

The one positive I take from the deg performance so far albeit in a small sample size, is that IF we can extract some more performance from the car on early laps we could push max into degrading the tyres at a greater rate than he has been.

I love that suzuka is so close to last year’s suzuka. Will really show the true improvement of cars YoY without too much development in season yet.

Ah, lucky you!

Are you planning on going to the race?

I am sure he can recover, I think Albon also had just 1 week break before Singapore gp and that is one of the toughest race..

The stuff that is scheduled for Suzuka should be very "small" according to previous reports.

I’ve seen a number of reports suggesting the upgrades will be very minor for Suzuka, Ferrari are keeping their powder dry until they get back to Europe which makes logical sense. I still think a careful approach is needed to the upgrades so they logically build on the strengths of the car whilst fixing the flaws.

Autosport reporting that Mercedes has signed Simone Resta and Enrico Sampo (performance software, driver simulator team leader for Ferrari). Both are still contracted to Ferrari up to '25 if I understand correctly.
Hope the people Lewis will bring from Merc will be worth it! :D

Resta's been in Haas for a while now and previously with Sauber, Sampo might be the more valuable hire for Mercedes simulator operations in short-term. Hopefully Vasseur makes sure Mercedes waits as long as possible, a tiny payback after the ridiculous situation with Loic Serra's contract.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!
