Like I said in FP3, it was obvious that Charles was uncomfortable with the car, and he confirmed as much. Really annoying. Red Bull are saying that we look a genuine threat in the race though.

We don’t. Despite my unsureness about it yesterday, it’s clear redbull hadn’t turned the engine on. Maybe Carlos can keep perez behind, but his pace seems to be worse relative to Charles in races. At least last year. And the redbull is a rocket on the straights.

Carlos could've had pole... in Q3 Carlos lost almost 4 tenths in T9-10 to Max

Just saw this as well on f1-tempo. Was not Ferrari's day in Q, RB made a huge step since yesterday and Ferrari did not. The concerning bit here is that it looks like a repeat from Bahrain and Jeddah, they simply struggle to get tyres in the right place in Q3 for wahtever reason.

Sainz did a massive job in any case, T9-10 error was unfortunate but not important overall. Leclerc was struggling even in FP3 today, disappointing Q3 and will be interesting to hear what he has to say. Hopefully degradation in the race will work in their favour, I'm not sure RB can get away with their skinny rear wing choice without any issues.

Nothing to do with PU, RB changed the rear wing to smaller Jeddah spec :)
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Massively disappointing after yesterday. There’s a great car in the SF24, but it looks like it’s too slow to switch the tyres on which needs improving.
Really think Charles would have got pole yesterday the way the car was handling for him. Although RB again able to operate with less wing and gain more advantage.

Disappointing performance. They look to have the pace in quali and in race trim but the drivers, especially Leclerc, came up short. This is the sort of weekend you can't afford to start 5th (maybe 4th after penalties) if you want to win the WDC.

Leclerc confirmed big discomfort today. Another missed chance to do better in Q3 like Bahrain, this simply can't happen again even if it's hard to extract the most from fresh tyres in Q3.

Oh well, RB are ahead and no need to add another pole without a chance to win. Double podium must remain their goal in any case, Perez' deg will be vulnerable with smaller rear wing without doubt.

“We perhaps underestimated Red Bull’s strength in qualifying and in FP3, so pole would have been difficult, but I did not maximize the car, that’s clear,” Charles began on Sky Sport. “I didn’t do a good job in FP3 and lost the feeling with the car. I managed to complete the lap anyway. I was confident that the feeling would come back in qualifying, but instead, I lost it even more.” – the Monegasque driver pointed out.

“Yesterday, the front was very good, this morning we lost it a bit, and in qualifying a lot. On the last run, I was very aggressive with the front flap, but probably we went in the wrong direction.” – he added.

“I wanted to try, but looking back I should perhaps have settled for third place and stayed ahead. I wanted to try something but I was too aggressive.”
Sainz happy with his performance as he should be, hopefully he'll have no physical issues tomorrow.

It’s been a tough couple weeks, a lot of days in bed waiting for this moment to see if I could be here today. To make it to this weekend and then to put it on the front row after leading through qualifying, I was almost not believing it, especially after how tough it’s been. But very happy to be here, very happy to be challenging the Red Bulls this weekend. I was a bit rusty at the beginning yesterday but then I got up to speed and I could finally find the pace and am feeling good with the car. I’m not going to lie, I’m not in my most comfortable state when I’m driving out there but I can get it done. And as long as I can get it done without the pain, obviously a lot of discomfort and weird feelings but no pain, so it allows me to push flat out.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Great balance and rotation.
Hopefully it will be the same in quali and in the race.

"Absolutely 0" porpoising / bouncing as well.
Fantastic, today the car was completely different. What the hell did they do?

In any event good quali by Sainz, Leclerc underperformed massively. He is not that good in this track but yeah not great

Huh…interesting. You would think given what people here were telling me…

Never mind. Let’s see what the race brings.

Unless something has really gone wrong with the setup, Charles should get past Lando quite quickly and be behind Carlos.

Not sure I want to see the drama between the 2 Ferrari drivers and Ferrari's inability to make a decision which all leads to Sergio getting P2.

Max had some very tricky understeer earlier in the session - I’m not sure if something changed conditions-wise in Q3 but that understeer could certainly come back to hurt him in the race. Ferrari looked so good in T3/4/5 and then the final two corners all weekend and that can def be worth something, especially if they can get Charles up to p3 early.

Hopefully they can also be aggressive with strategy if an opportunity presents.

it won't be easy for Charles, he starts from dity track side, Lando will always defend hard, oscar always has good launch's, checo can be messy.. I just hope he keep it clean first lap and build from there.

I'm not so sure. That Macca was pretty fast in the race runs. It has good straight line speed and extremely good high speed performance. Will be hard to stay close onto the two DRS zones at the back of the circuit, which is realistically where you can overtake. I think Charles needs to get it done early. Best hope is the RB suffers graining again.

Clearly it wasn't completely different. Sainz had a 3-4 tenth mistake which accounts for all of the deficit and more.

I wonder what is the reason behind the fact that RB improves much more than Ferrari through the weekend usually.

- Ferrari has better simulation tools and therefore is able to arrive with a better base setup?
- RB hide more during FPs?
- Ferrari is not as good as RB in improving the car on track during the weekend?

Maybe a combination of all the above. Don’t really know.

They've definitely hid something, today the RB20 was faster in a straight line than the SF24, yesterday they were the same.
