Quite a bit of talk that Norris felt he should have grabbed 2nd and was the second fastest. Personally I feel it was a fair result and representation.LetHimTrough wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 11:31Charles said and correctly, there is no if. He had a bad qualifying and today he had to deal the results of that qualifying. That first stint behind Norris hurt him.
Brilliant Weekend for Carlos and for the team. Perfect strategy, pit stops and finally a race without a SC in the wrong time to put Ferrari Victory in jeopardy.
Charles looked to have more pace on the first stint, in the second stint with fresher tires and Charles having to fight through traffic early on Norris had better pace.Vinlarr89 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 12:50Quite a bit of talk that Norris felt he should have grabbed 2nd and was the second fastest. First stint Charles was clearly being held up by Norris and the undercut was the cleanest way of passing him. Of course the strategical decision by MCL to leave Norris out put him behind Piastri with work to do.
The second stint, Norris was clearly stronger, however had the tyre offset of 6 laps? to his advantage and Charles wasn’t able to bring his tyres into condition at the start of the stint correctly.
The third stint was much better for Charles, and although Norris had some stronger laps again he had a tyre offset, and Charles was managing the race and tyres, was able to pull out fastest lap when needed.
I feel had Charles started in front, then he likely would have been able to pull away in the first stint.
Look forward to Japan with managed expectations. RB will be clearly faster than the pack before any upgrades.
It is just the nature of this sport, there are no available top seats. Well, there is one in Redbull, but his past with the team management might make that hard for him.BMMR61 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 14:08Thrilled for all you Ferrari fans, great to see Carlos bag another flawless win, we miss him at McLaren even if we have two brilliant drivers. The battle between us is closing up on these faster tracks and maybe we can even put Max under pressure before the end of the year. A Ferrari 1-2 is always a day of special celebration and my heart swells with joy!
Crazy to think Carlos is now carless, going to Sauber would be an insult to a man of his ability.
I think the dirty air now is just horrible, Charles in clean air with proper warm up was faster than Sainz today.
I don't think so. Maybe in the last stint.SoulPancake13 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 15:18I think the dirty air now is just horrible, Charles in clean air with proper warm up was faster than Sainz today.
Hard to tell much from the first stint as Charles was held up behind Norris and in dirty air which is known for degrading tyre life in these conditions wildly.Xyz22 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 15:29I don't think so. Couple more laps at the end could have gotten quite awkward for Carlos, Charles was a lot fasterVinlarr89 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 16:24Hard to tell much from the first stint as Charles was held up behind Norris and in dirty air which is known for degrading tyre life in these conditions wildly.Xyz22 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2024, 15:29I don't think so. There’s definitely an intricacy to the tyre warm up… second stint leclerc got it wrong and the stint was poor, and in the last stint Carlos got it wrong and his tyres faded very quickly at the end whereas leclerc was definitely on top.
Ultimately the poor quali probably cost Charles, as the advantage of clean air and track was significant.
