It’s only 1 race weekend. If Japan is a washout, it’s a washout for everyone not just RB. They will have a chance to see dry weather in Miami.

Forecast is very unpredictable at the moment, Confidence Grade C but as of this very moment the radar would suggest heavy rain on Wednesday (today) and low chance of rain throughout the weekend. Quite the opposite of what it was 3 days ago.

I butchered one of Vorticism's drawings to show how a double sidepod could pass the 2 section test:

However, I don't know if the radiator inlet is permitted to be so far backwards so I still don't think such an idea could be legal.
You would basically make a zero-pod intake with mid-wing whcih McLaren has already done.

The only unique thing about the RedBull pods is that they are downward facing with a stiff upper lip. It's a very British design mind you.

Good to see the "Horner scandal" is no longer dominating here. Likewise the "Sanchez affair" is after less than 12 hours dropping off the McLaren team comments on this forum. More racing news, less hyped up speculation from the media would be the impossible dream. With all the 13? driver contracts ending this year and the Lewis to Ferrari deal, it's going to be an interesting few months ahead for the driver market. I hope RedBull make the logical choice of Sainz who would complement the speed and aggression of Max with a quickish and safe pair of hands, a smart head and show Jos Verstappen who's in charge.

Any hints of a Suzuka upgrade for the car?
vorticism:

RB20 development speculation: Suzuka spec sidepods.

what would this achieve other than create a lot of drag?

I thought so too... But this is just Spceculation...

In that respect, the RB19 and RB20 are similar, albeit on the face of it the cars are different. So why did Red Bull choose such a considerable difference in concept in 2024, when they were so successful in 2023?

"Our aerodynamics team has done a fantastic job," praised Wache. "They have developed the new package in such a way that ultimately there is more freedom to further develop the car within the current concept.

"Therefore, we don't see the current concept as the ultimate version, but we have created further development possibilities. In addition, it is nice to see that everything works well with this concept and that the correlation between the simulations and the track also match exactly."
He added: "In fact, when we make changes to make the tyres work better, you know that you also have to give up something in the car. It always comes at the expense of something when you try to save the tyres.

"You can see that in qualifying, for example, where we are not the best team. Sometimes we pay the price for that by not understanding something, I'm sure, because then we have to choose to set up more for race pace, but by doing so we sacrifice qualifying a bit.

"So if we understood that aspect of the car better, we could be good in both qualifying and the race. However, we still lack some information to make that happen."

.
Red Bull will not change to the ‘zeropod’ concept, despite what was previously suggested.
...
Let's hope that some users here will come round again.
Ghosts were already seen before the first race, and now, before the upgrade, they've even been drawn...

We're used to Max Verstappen and GP communicating over the F1 Team Radio. Now the reigning World Champion is joined
by his Race Engineer for a lap of the Suzuka Circuit on @EASPORTSF1 ahead of this weekend's Japanese GP.
The pair study the circuit with the help of the @Oracle dashboard.

Brake issue from Melbourne sounds like installation error:
Max Verstappen: "The brake problem wasn't a real failure, but we clearly had to work on it to make sure it can't happen again. We decided to change some procedures to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Thats why this team is the sharpest on the grid.

There was a issue, it was investigated, and not a countermeasure has been put in place to ensure it doesnt happen again.

Wouldnt go that far. Some clearly dont learn from mistakes.
