What is this circuit? Front or rear limited? The long corners are going to kill the front left, but there are also 6 traction zones that kill the rear.

The works Mercedes team took their first win here in 2012 and always was very fast in China despite having very bad rear tire wear everywhere else. So I think that means it's a front limited circuit.

With the new asphalt and bumps gone, it's gonna be a casual weekend of Red Bull festivities. Ferrari may have a chance at 2-3 only if Checo somehow completely messes up his setup even after the Sprint. McLaren-Mercedes-AMR fight might be interesting, corners won't work to McLaren's usual strengths. We also may hear some new rumours for 2025 line ups, with Sainz being the hot topic.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

"Bumps gone" is not quite accurate. They have performed a grinding operation which only removes high spots, not low spots. Silverstone and COTA also grind their tracks with very limited effectiveness. Drivers complain every year.

as far as I understood, they have only tried to flatten the bumps, so who knows what it will look like. At COTA, that has never really worked out. I don't think the track has been resurfaced completely?!

edit: according to this tweet, ist has been resurfaced indeed. But are those pictures even real?

Is anything known about the resurfacing? When was it finished and was it treated? I fear it might be a Turkey 2.0 with no grip at all...

here is another Chinese articles with some pictures and a video. So only parts have been resurfaced, and by the look of it, more patches than full parts.

Sounds like they have done some major renovation on the turn 1 grandstand and that abandoned grandstand before the long back straight.

Surprising the work is not complete for this GP and slated for completing in November.

Previously was a temporary stand built as per demand. in 2019 it was not erected

Turkey 2020 was a great race.
Agreed...but I think more based on the "nothing to loose" approach some teams had, which lead to a Stroll pole for example. In the current situation with most teams not or just understanding the cars I think this is not possible.
The rest of Turkey was rather dull to watch..drivers just constantly off track and complaining, in the race no good overtaking action.

I think rain will help us again this weekend, but a bad tarmac will more spoil the show than improve it.

Are we sure the new tarmac will be bad? How long ago were the sections repaved? Perhaps the time between repaving and the GP will be long enough for the bitumen to age?

When Guanyu-Zhou presented its new helmet, a few days ago, a detail seems to have escaped a good number of fans of Formula 1.
For this Chinese Grand Prix, the Sauber driver will race with a special piece inspired by the Shanghai metro lines.
However, on the back of the helmet, there is a photo of a young boy waving a flag in the colors of Renault…....
Where does this photo come from and what does it mean?
.
A nice read:

Disturbed Friday practice, and a sprint on top of that. Well at least they can use the Sprint data and change their race setups after.
