Just plain bad setup here. Less wing but not faster in S3 and slower in s1. Good fights from LEC. Not even stroll passed by Sainz, but whatever.

Well that was awful. So much for being good out of the box on sprint weekends, although the struggles here might partly be attributed to the new surface.

Leclerc was trying multiple different approach to the corners in the last few laps, probably in order to understand more.

Terrible WE management this time. Absolutely terrible. Always slow.

Wondering what good tyre life is without competitive race pace, all the strengths this car had like traction and pace has disappeared just to get better tyre life. I wonder what’s the direction this is taking. All big talk and no result.

The car was the third fastest. I think they got the setup a bit wrong and with the sprint format had no time to correct. Cold Track didn’t help as the cars advantage comes when others tyres degrade. Still unconcerned at this point as the car has a platform to develop from

This looks like a recurrent issue from last year, the full safety car probably screwed us.

Putting temperature back in the hards after the cooldown during the safety car is a big problem

Well, apparently, Ferrari need to prepare updates for Imola that will speed up the car by 0.5 seconds or more, otherwise all this makes no sense. It doesn’t matter whether this will happen due to better tyre heating right away (qualifying, restart for the SC), or just speed it up, but spending 7 races to bring updates costing 0.25s is not enough. For some reason, Red Bull was able to update earlier, McLaren will be able to in Miami, but Ferrari will sit longer. :(

Since tomorrow the conditions will be the same as today (maybe even more cloudy), I expect the cars in front will struggle a lot less with deg as the race goes on, unlike Suzuka. On the other hand, Leclerc might suffer in the early laps with his slow-to-heat-up setup. Ferrari have little choice, they will both have to back off in the first stint, extend it forever and watch how the race unfolds and go from there. One stop might be both doable and a very good choice in their case. I think they would do well to go M-M-S as I said today, making M-M stints until lap 45 could be doable and then go for a trail blaze run on Softs for 10 laps.

I'm not expecting a podium due to cold weather,
Nothing to add, SF24 being so gentle on the tyres was never going to be competitive in such cold weather. One-stop was a forced choice for Ferrari, making them use Hards which were always going to be an issue. While VSC helped Leclerc save some time while stopping, both SC periods effectively nullified that and evened things out for others. Not even McLaren failing to pull Norris in as soon as VSC period started was close to being punished

M-M-S would have been better for Ferrari like I said before, but with VSC period it didn't look like it would take more than 2 laps to get going again and taking Hards for a one-stop was the right choice for Leclerc. So even today in conditions which suited other cars a lot more, points haul was maxxed out, so big kudos to Vasseur and the team! Sainz was a bit slower than expected today (maybe got some damage earlier in the race) but still managed to get a decent P5.

I have zero fears for Miami, its gonna be hot and sunny and Ferrari are gonna enjoy the bright Florida spring 8) Qualy will be back to regular too, no BS cold weather  With some luck, a double podium is possible. And then roll on Imola 8)

They need to work to fix the tyre warmup issues and not be dependent on weather. RB and especially max seems to be able to fire up tires at will.

Will likely require the 2025 car to fix these limitations.

Then they will discover something else has gone backwards. Next year TM. Need to keep things which work and improve the ones which don’t.

My friend, it's how the car was born and it's going to reap a whole lot of benefits in peak-summer races. :)

In fact, in principle all of the following 19 races have a lot higher chance of being hotter than cold. Japan and China were always the only two outliers with east-Asian weather being influenced by Pacific cold air currents, now that Malaysia is not on the calendar for years. It's gonna be many races where others will burn their tyres struggling to keep up with Ferrari and in some races even Red Bull will have worse deg than Ferrari - just like we already had such races this year.

If Imola upgrade is worth 2.5 tenths it's gonna be a good job and it's gonna solve all the Q troubles no matter the weather, but I have a feeling formu1a.uno got a false leak and those gains could be 3-4 tenths actually. If you are changing the floor and the whole bodywork, it's supposed to be big and meaningful.

Absolutely! As I said, this weekend brought a very, very good points haul despite the weather working against Ferrari.

Your view gives hope and I wish it comes real, track record for Ferrari in season updates have very bad reputation so let’s see.
However the need here is outright pace with drag to downforce compensation which needs to improve, else all these super tyre management is waste.
