They had the max amount of supports and needed one for the "tongue", that's why the edge has one support less

Upgrades seem to have worked. Shows again that small miscaluclations are heavily punished in this GE era.

I think they havent maxed out the upgrades yet. It was both downforce + significant weight reduction (it is said 3,6kg). It should have been around 0,3 sec per lap at least. However Ocon was just slightly quicker than Gasly who was without upgrades.

In my opinion in Miami (this track suits them) we should see full potential (inc. further / final weight reduction to be delivered). So they should be somewhere at the border of Q3 and aiming for first points this year.

Agree and at the same time, again a sprint race format this weekend, so not a lot of time to test and make progress, at least they have two cars to run different programs. Points are not too far but they still need someone at the top to have an issue.

Still they were always weak during sprint weekends (it is said - due to poor simulator)

Welcome to Miami with both A524 now under weight limit, let's see where those >0.2s are!

Tweet from A. Fabrega below: they will probably run different programs between Esteban (low downforce) and Pierre (high downforce). First answers in a few minutes.

Minor upgrade tested on 1 car today : a reinforcement to the floor ahead of the rear wheel can bring a little bit of performance, and most likely some stability and repeatability to the car's performance at various speeds, over the kerbs, etc...

Nice! Havent heard of any upgrades coming and here is the nice surprise. Even though some of them are track specific, lets see how they work on Monaco streets. Btw where do you get those messages from? I've been looking actively for such summary of every team, without any success. Does Fia publish it somewhere?

So what do we think about Alpine having one of their cars being over the weight limit again?

After Canada Quali/Race Ocon stated publicly that his car is heavier since Miami (coincides with the introduction of the upgraded chassis/floor for Gasly that Ocon had in China), which Gasly acknowledged while downplaying the importance of the weight difference, OCO/GAS also stated that they will switch again throughout the year.

The delta is probably between 1 and 3 kilos which also seems to match the gains from the China update...

So, were they able to bring only one update? They talked everywhere about having both car under the weight limit for Miami (and bringing the update for Gasly's car). The fact that they must switch again indicates that they are far from having two cars with upgraded parts, are they having manufacturing issues now or are they investing in another chassis rev that they needed to cancel the second upgrade? :wtf:

its either that they prepare spec B car (something like that Gasly said recently) and because of that they dont want to waste monet on parts now.

either they are just saving money - hopefully because they want to use it elsewhere not just to save it.

Small update from Alpine around the rear brake ducts. Maybe to manage brake temp with the heat wave in Hungary? Maybe localized load gain? Maybe tire temp management too?
