The deal that he has struck with Rb doesn't support this narrative.
They can't say anything because any potential deal with other teams is under massive NDAs.

Eddie Jordan thinks Newey will likely take some time away from F1 before he dives straight into something else
I mean at least 1ish year of time off considering he will work only on the RB17 from now on.
depends if the RB17 is wrapped up in January and he leaves then that’s around 7 months no not a lot of time at 65 when as Jordan points out the constant stress etc

I do think he ends up at Ferarri - maybe as a consults working the hours he wants etc. but equally maybe wouldn’t be surprised if he decides he’s had enough and retires/ works on other things at his own pace. Time will tell

I think by time Adrian can work on the new regulations, too much time will have passed to be truly effective. IF he joins another team
If he finishes up in early 25 jan/early Feb I think there is plenty of influence he could have if he goes

Newey is leaving RBR in good terms and certainly not rushing to leave because he has suddenly fallen in love with Ferrari. As CTO, AN is a very meticulous guy, so this plan of stepping away from F1 was certainly not an afterthought but something the was decided between him and the team before his last contract extension in 2023.

The official retirement age in the UK is 66 and average life expectancy for man in UK is around 79. After spending his entire life working under great pressure in F1 and achieving huge success at RBR, I am sure he will want to leave the sport at the top of his career to enjoy a great life with his family and traveling around the world to watch motor racing as VIPs instead of team member.

Seeing LH talking about the prospect of AN joining Ferrari, I am afraid he may just become less welcome in Ferrari garage.

So with Newey definitely out of RBR F1, will Max go to Mercedes a year early to try and bring some people from RBR with him?
Why would Max go to Mercedes and not to Alpine? Aren't Alpine in F1 to win? :?:

It would be a shame for Alpine to miss out on Hamilton and Verstappen. :|

The claims were that Alpine have no budget issues, yet they don't seem to be playing in the space of the $100m USD p/a and $160m USD p/a driver contract offers?! :wtf:

Sainz reportedly declines Audi. As expected, Sauber is in such a poor state right now, so Sainz does not even consider substantial monetary offer from Audi. I have a strong suspicion his patience will yield a Red Bull seat, where he will remain for the next 5-6 years.

From Spain: Sainz "ignores" Audi's offer

Current rumours from Spain are that Sainz has rejected the offer from Audi and that he will risk things by waiting for a more competitive opportunity (Red Bull, Mercedes).

Max is the critical piece in the driver market now

I don't blame him. The Audi project is just that, a project. He probably wouldn't get back to the podium or have a shot to win for years. Even the best case similar scenarios ie Jaguar to Red Bull and Brawn to Mercedes, took awhile.

Good news, a driver who wants to win and not just take the financial security.

Thoughts on the rumour that Ocon has given up on Alpine and will go to Sauber Audi from 2025? :?: Shame to see Ocon give up on the project of the French national team. :(

Presumably Alpine will take the well-financed pay driver Zhou (an ex-Alpine-junior with large $30m USD sponsorship), as that is more in keeping with Alpine's philosophy of cost-effective Formula 1 racing.

You fix Alpine by renaming it Renault, and run Honda power units rebranded as Alpine after signing a listed-parts deal with Aston Martin. After that, its all down to leading the people that develop the car in such a way that you get over-unity of output. Only egos break teams.

Money and drivers don't ever seem to be their actual issue.

Gasly to Williams as well to replace Sargeant?

I think we see Mick Schumacher there before Gasly.
