If RBR puts it on pole here then the rest of the field might as well go home. They look even more further back than then did during the first day at Imola. The car is bouncing guys. Not good.
Mercedes I think it's the first time they are running a real high downforce package this year, with that updated rear wing so I'm not too surprised they are fast when efficiency can be thrown out the window. Hamilton did that time without having to kiss the walls at all so that car has a lot more potential but it might take an in form Russell to find the limits. .
Still have to love Leclerc for pole.
The Mclarens look suspiciously off the pace. that might change tomorrow.
no chance. Max put 3rd fastest car there on pole last year. Can't do it twice in a row, especially because it's gone worse, not better with RB20, relative to top rivals..

Im not counting out Max at all lool you lot forgot about last weekend already ?
RB was absolute boat in slow-medium speed corners of S3 last weekend in Q3. Max made up for the loses on the straights. completely impossible to replicate that in Monaco.

The effects of no Newey to connect the dots. They need to learn to solve problems without him.
But Max has shown flashes of potential. The first sector is very strong for him.
Ferrari though in a sweet spot with the front end and the ride.
I suspect Mercedes engine has the best drivability and that is giving Merc, Aston and Mclaren a little edge.
the effects of suspension "designed by Newey". Good from aerodynamics point of view, poor from all others.

Ralf Schumacher usually doesn't tend to add much of interest on German Sky, but today he mentioned that the cars were set up much softer last year to avoid bouncing, and that Red Bull benefitted from that. Now that they are all very stiff again, they suffer more.

Leclerc running Q engine modes for sure, crazy gaps to Sainz
Yes I think so. Looking at telemetry they're giving Lec full beans
Leclerc had clearly a lot more power compared with Max, but I cannot see any difference with Sainz. Sainz just has very different approach at the moment, taking it cautiously step by step building up towards Quali. It's very clear where he's losing most of the time. He lost 0.2s to Charles in crucial T15-16 alone, which takes a lot of confidence and precision. This is where Max won pole last year, in that chicane.

I wonder whats the possibility that Ferrari is trialing out energy deployment modes the have been noticing RBR and Mclaren use, such as their media statements after Imola. Not to take anything away from Charles or the SF-24 as they look dialled in already, just speaking to the speed trap numbers etc ?

Lec has clearly learned from Max T15-16 from last years Q3. He gained over a 0.1s there already. and of course nobody, not even him, was given full engine power today. Lec and Ham ran more power than Ver for sure though.

The RB19 was the worst car in Monaco last year, according to my very precise calculations.
It reminded me of the 99 Minardi.

Red Bull sandbagging as always! 0,3 lost due to engine modes compared to Ferrari!

Verstapen will stuck it on pole and his fans will again go like “oh Max did in the 7th best car in the field” 😂
Pretty much

For me the worst is the disrespect towards the team making outright or shared best chassis almost every year since 2010. As if saying RB19 with 21/22 wins wasn't the most dominant car ever wasn't enough :)

As bhall said, for those who were here at the time, at least Hamilton had Rosberg to fight with and give value to those 3 seasons they were at it
AeroGimli.x

And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Well 2 of them anyway. 2015 Lewis beat Nico significantly.

Can't this debate not just be put to bed instead of letting it roar it's ugly head every GP !?

It is completely ridiculous to suggest that the loss of Newey has anything to do with it.

So you are saying that Newey had zero impact on the team while he was there then?
For Sure!!
